What's up guys? Tune time.
Up first we have a song from Swedish melo-death pioneers, In Flames. This song from their landmark album Jester Race/Blackash Inheritance combines a crushing riff with Ander Frieden's vintage growls (before he lost it and started sounding like the singer from Korn). This is the wonderfully titled "Goliaths Disarm Their Davids."
Next is a song from a rapper who I've been following for a little while who seems poised to explode onto the scene in a big way any time now. When he's become the next in a long line of ubiquitous rap talents you hear on every tv and radio, remember that you heard him first in this medley. This is LA-based rapper Duckwrth and his Michael Jackson-inspired song "MICHUUL."
Next is a great ballad from Canadian folk duo Whitehorse. This is "Evangelina," a song which features the beautifully rendered lines "you are a wondrous thing, / they pick your petals but they grow back in spring / you are a wondrous thing." This is a live version:
Up last is a classic song, a true earworm that once you hear it is difficult to get out of your head. This is "Vacation" by The Go Gos.
