Thom Yorke is 49 today.
Singer and songwriter for Radiohead was born in Northamptonshire, but moved frequently before settling in Oxfordshire where Yorke attended Abingdon School. While at Abingdon, York formed Radiohead with his schoolmates. York underwent several surgeries on his eye, which was fixed shut at birth. One surgery was 'botched' which left Tom with his 'drooping eyelid'. Besides Radiohead, York has done solo work and collaborations.
Radiohead was recently nominated for the 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

John Mellencamp is 66 today
Inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, the native Indiana son has performed under the name of Johnny Cougar, John Cougar and John Cougar Mellencamp. He was born with spina bifida, for which he had corrective surgery as an infant. At 18, he eloped with his pregnant girlfriend Priscilla Esterline. Mellencamp became a father in December 1970, only six months after he graduated from high school.
In 1982, Mellencamp released his breakthrough album, American Fool, which contained the singles "Hurts So Good" & and "Jack & Diane". He went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance at the 25th Grammys.
With the commercial success of American Fool, John had enough leverage to get the record company to add his surname and began recording under John Cougar Mellencamp.
