Hard to blame Brandon too much, as Toys R Us was definitely fighting an uphill battle with online retailers making everything so much easier and cheaper, but if you're a business looking to make a comeback, you shouldn't have picked Dave Brandon. According to this article by CNBC, Toys R Us is expected to file for bankruptcy as soon as this week. It's a little sad given how iconic they were when I was a kid. My family rarely bought anything from there but browsing the store was a lot of fun. Over the years, they've been getting edged out of the market with more efficient businesses affording smaller margins and a general decrease in interest as kids are gravitating towards tablets for entertainment. I feel like stories like this are growing more common. Heck, even bodegas might get put out of business soon. No idea what retail will look like in the future.
