George Peter John Criscoula, aka Peter Criss’, best known as the original drummer for KISS, is 71 today. He joined the KISS precursor, Wicked Lester, in 1972 and remained in KISS through 1980 and then back in and out a couple times, in the 90s and early 00s. He has also released 5 solo albums and appeared on the only album released by the band Chelsea, in 1970. According to Gene Simmons, he and Paul Stanley decided on Criss as their drummer after hearing him sing in a club. "The drummer started to sing, and this Wilson Pickett-style voice came out of him. Paul and I said 'That's it, that's our drummer.' Criss did vocals on a number of KISS songs, including ‘Beth’, ‘Hard Luck Woman’, and ‘Black Diamond’. Happy birthday to The Catman.
