Born on this date in 1915 - Francis Albert Sinatra. The Chairman of the Board, 'Ol Blue Eyes, The King of Swing - call him what you want but Frank was one of the coolest Americans ever. After growing up a skinny kid in Jersey he took up singing and came to fame singing for the Harry James and Tommy Dorsey orchestras. In 1943 he signed with Columbia Records as a solo artist and went on to sell over 150 million albums. In the 1950s he moved to Las Vegas and kept rolling with the Rat Pack. He continue to perform up until his death in 1998.
He won Grammys, an Emmy, and an Academy Award. He was a style icon (up until Ron Burgundy made him look like a hobo). The ladies seemed to like him - your grandmothers were probably thinking of him when your parents were conceived.
