June 6, 1944, Operation Overlord, Normandy, France

As a veteran of the 101st Airborne Division, today will always resonate with me a bit, and as an American it resonates with me a lot. On this day, some 72 years ago, the greatest land, sea, and air campaign in military history took place, and altered the course of the world as we know it.

As I settle in to watch episode two of Band of Brothers, a 3M tradition each year on D-Day, it occurs to me that we were so preoccupied with a minor counterinsurgency on 11W, that no one posted a thread.  See, and here you thought this was another thread about that mess. 

Just take a moment to think about what real evil looked like.
