So, in an odd turn of events, my car was totaled recently and I'm stuck in a rental until Thursday. I would like to buy something by then. I'm trying to determine what I should buy and looking for some advice. 

Here's my criteria:

1. I'm not buying a luxury car. No BMWs, Lexus or anything above or close to that
2. I've got a growing family. 1 kid and 1 on the way. That will more than likely be it
3. I drive 100 miles daily to and from work. 90% of the drive are on 70 and 270. Gas mileage is important
4. I don't think I'd like to buy a hybrid
5. I'm going to assume that I need to stay below the 25,000 final buying price to get where I'd like to be
