Selection Day has been delayed.

The College Football Playoff is punting its selection day two weeks, moving it from its originally scheduled Dec. 6 to the later date of Dec. 20.

The CFP Management Committee made the schedule change after multiple conferences elected to move their championship games back to allow for scheduling flexibility, some considering dates as far out as Dec. 12, 18 or 19.

"With recent schedule changes for the regular season, it makes sense for the committee to make its final rankings after the conference championship games, when it can get a complete picture of the season," executive director Bill Hancock said in a release. "The selection committee members understand the need to be flexible as we all navigate uncharted waters this season, and this move will allow them to evaluate all the available information."

The committee will still choose the top four teams following the season with the semifinals taking place New Year's Day in the Rose Bowl Game and Sugar Bowl and the national championship game slated for Jan. 11, in Miami.
