I'm not going to start a raging debate on the pros and cons of selling beer in Ohio Stadium, but yes, I would definitely imbibe. One cool caveat would be to only sell beer brewed in Ohio. Focus on Columbus beer to support local business (Barley's, Columbus, and Elevator Brewing Co.), and then throw in one beer from Cleveland (Great Lakes) and Cincinnati (Christian Moerlein). The increased cost of great beer would/might limit the binge drinking. Plus, you're drinking great beer. Have 2-3 homegrown delicisous beers and be responsible instead of pounding down 8 swills (Bud Light/Miler Lite) and not being able to remember the second half of the game. OK, I guess I might have started a little bit of debate.
Here we go again: it has to be Buckeye Beer from Maumee Bay Brewing in Toledo, Ohio.

For anyone that doesn't know, we do serve Buckeye Beer, along with several other Ohio brewing staples, at Woody's Tavern.
Thats what I was going to say, but it would be cool to have the same deal in the Shoe. Would probably cost more but imo it would be worth it.

I agree with the cost = less drinking. I'd have a few, but at stadium prices I'd limit it to that.
I'm cheap and stadium beers are marked up like 300% and I can already imagine at Ohio State it'll be marked up 400%... I'd have a better time saving my money than I would drinking at the game.
Besides I don't sneak in anything with me now and I already have awesome times at the 'Shoe.

I believe selling alcohol inside the stadium would be a great idea if it helped create a Dawg Pound atmosphere. I have been to both the Shoe and Cleveland Browns Stadium for games. In my humble opinion, I felt that Browns Stadium has a more intimidating aura (if only the team did as well). The last two Buckeye games I have been to there were points in the game that a third down stop by the defense was needed, and I was one of the few people standing up and yelling for the team. So many people were sitting on their hands being casual observers rather than fanatics. I almost felt akward at times standing up cheering, but never have I felt this in Cleveland. In Cleveland, especially in the Dawg Pound, if you aren't standing on third down, you won't be able to see. Does the sale of alcohol encourage a rowdy enviroment, absolutely. Does a rowdy enviroment enhance the overall fan experience? I guess it depends who you are and what your idea of a good time is. I enjoy both venues but is funny how different each can be.
I think the fans that get drunk and rowdy already show up that way, so I doubt the experience would change a lot.
For me it depends how much they charge. FYI, for those who think that there is no alcohol in that stadium on game day, I've got some news for you . . . ever been in a bathroom stall at the Shoe? Any stall. By half time there are always many, many empty hotel bar sized liquor bottles.

I don't really like paying stadium prices for anything, though I sometimes make exceptions for hot dogs and bottled water on hot days. So I would probably vote no.
Not having beer sales never stopped me from drinking at the Shoe back in my student days, just like the ban on smoking hasn't stopped smokers.

It doesn't matter if your team is good or bad, mixing alcohol and football is practically a loaded gun in itself. Ohio Stadium is already a pretty raucous place for visiting fans. Look, I'm a big fan of drinking, I love beer and I love drinking beer while watching Ohio State in a bar or on my couch. And I drink at tailgates. But in a stadium you get a mob mentality, and I've seen it get pretty ugly at professional games as people keep drinking for 2 more hours and their mood becomes an embodyment of what's happening on the field.
I'm not a fan of beer at stadiums where people are clad in their army's colors. You'll get a lot more fights, a lot more objectionable behavior if you have alcohol available, particularly if they've already been drinking for hours before the game. It's not worth it.
I'm all for selling alcohol in the stadium. As others have pointed out, the folks that are hammered for kickoff show up that way and are not going to get anymore hammered from $7-$10 beers. It would probably provide a nice boost to revenue on gameday and I highly doubt it's going to create a more violent atmosphere.
I'm one of those slightly raucous fans that tailgates fairly heavily before the game (yes, even the noon games). But I stop drinking about an hour before gametime, and with a 3 1/2 hour game (plus the line to cross the walking bridge), I've sobered up by the time I get back to my car. If you have drinking (sponsored by the university) during the game, you'll have a less enjoyable experience at the game (how many times will the people down your row walk past you to first get more beers, then spill them on you walking back, then need to leave frequently for the restrooms?).
I would have 2 beers max because they would charge an arm and a d*ck. I like to remember the games too.
Sell it for the first half only, and limit it to 3. Have a tent outside the stadium where you can by a wrist band. This eliminates delays inside for checking ID's. You go to the beer concession inside the stadium and they punch the band and give you a beer. The third time they take the wristband. At the start of the third quarter beer sales cease. I really like the idea of Ohio brews only.

That said, if it is allowed, you know that it will be whoever gives them the most money (ie, Budweiser), sold throughout the game, for $10 a cup.
If they do, have fun policing the student section to figure out who is "really" 21.

It would have to be like WVU where they dont sell alcohol in the student sections and arent supposed to sell any to students in the rest of the sections.

I said "yes", but it really depends on what beer they sold. If it was just Bud or Miller or something along those lines, I wouldn't drink it.
Looking at the comments I can really see both sides of the argument. Personally I think selling alcohol in the stadium will cause more problems than the revenue it will create. My reasoning is this:
How can this be enforced with minors? I know when I was in school their was always someone with a fake ID and we always could drink. When I go to OSU games I already run into some sloppy drunk, and a drunk can either be really entertaining or really annoying for the other fans around them. Having alcohol in the stadium (with a limit on the # of drinks) may not increase the number of rowdy fans, but it will keep the really drunk people intoxicated longer, and that can affect other peoples game experience. Even in the NFL where their is a higher majority of "adults" of legal drinking age in the crowd, they act irresponsible. I once saw a guy in the Dawgpound pee in his cup so he wouldn't miss the action of the game.
What about liability? If a freshman gets served and something really bad happens to them is the University at fault or the vendor? (Anyone in the legal profession, please enlighten me).
What about cost? How many additional police officers will the University have to hire to properly enforce this?
I love the idea of only selling Ohio Beers, but I think the University would jump at a Quantity discount from a huge Beer vendor( a price break so low the small Ohio vendors could not compete with). Then we wouldn't have a good beer option, just water with alcohol.
I have had numerous games where I tailgated and had my adult beverages, and I am not against people drinking, I just think the stadium is too big to be enforced properly. The amount of revenue is not worth the headache. If they want to make more money, put some lights on the stadium and have 2-3 night games a year. Just my two cents.
They would sell but I'd never buy. B/c they'd be obscenely overpriced.
Great Lakes or Columbus would have my business especially if they had a "beer only" stand. By the sounds of these posts there won't be much business and I'd get to the front of the line fairly quickly.
