Joey Bosa Is Almost Done With His Ridiculously Cool Tattoo

Get excited, internet trolls, because it's time to fire up your lame Tatgates jokes once again!

When we last heard from Joey Bosa, he was fuming over somebody breaking into his car. This time, however, we find the Big Bear in much better spirits.

Ohio State is on Spring Break this week, and like a lot of college aged kids, Bosa is using the free time to get some tattoo work done:

A bigger image of his work can be found here

There's a lot to like about this tattoo, but my favorite parts are the Buckeye leaf (I hope that's a Buckeye leaf) over his hometown, Fort Lauderdale, and the diabolical-looking teddy bear that appears to be puffing on a stogie.

Fortunately, that IS a buckeye leaf. Buckeye leaves have 5 branches while a marijuana leaf has 7

And just how do you know he was inferring a marijuana leaf?

Fortunately, he's a Buckeye.   Sir Bosa!!!!!!

Personnel opinion but I think tattoos should be small and simple. But to each his own. That would make a cool t shirt design

I'm not so sure that's a teddy bear with a stogie, I'm going to go with part of the necklace. Pure coincidence.

Buckeye Necklace?

I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.

Does look like Buckeyes, now that you mention it, but it ends in a cross.  Let's meet halfway and say it's a Buckeye rosary?  Actually kinda cool.

That is definitely part of a rosary.

Why'd he get a tatoo on his thigh?

Was thinking the same thing. I looked at the photo again after commenting and I saw pants and I was surprised lol.

I truly hope he paid for that tattoo, and I hope UFM asked to see a receipt.

I don't always downvote, but I do always downvote a Michigan fan trolling the Buckeye boards.

I must be getting old cause every time I see a young person getting a tattoo I can't help but think, when they get old and wrinkly it's gonna go from a work of art to something they drew with markers when they were 2.

What does it matter; They're gonna be old anyway and look like crap anyway. How many old folks have you seen that look amazing?

And I'm sure if they had tattoos, they'd still look good.

I love it when people miss the point or over think things.

Cindy Crawford is still in her 40s and not what i'm talking about. It's not uncommon for someone to still look good in their 40s if they take care of themselves. Raquel Welch has had lots of plastic surgery; I would need to see a bare midriff or something for more confirmation.

+1 on the Raquel Welch. Incredibly hot for her age. She's actually hotter than her daughter.

Not a big fan of tattoos, but it's always fun to see a tattoo with something of the team they play for, like how he has a buckeye leaf. I've seen some pretty cool ones of Ohio state.

Wow when i first saw the picture I also saw a teddy bear / pig thing with weird nose.  I couldn't figure it out until the context clues of the rosary made me understand.

I agree. I didn't realize I was staring at his thigh until SOMEONE MENTIONED IT.

The line work is much better on this one than the last; there are still a number of blotches like the artist started and stopped then started again in the middle of a stroke. I would recommend that he keep searching for a better artist.

And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!

Bosa should look up Darnell Waine. He was the semi-finalist on the recent Best Ink challenge (should've won). He does amazing work and has incredible line-work. He's based in OK, but I'm sure he travels to do shows and so forth. Whenever I figure out exactly what I want, I'm thinking about having him do a half sleeve/chest piece on me. Here's some of his work:

There's a guy named Marty Holcomb here in Columbus; he's world renowned and probably the best in town. There are probably a couple other guys in town worth mentioning too. There's a guy in Cleveland, I think he works out of Voodoo Monkey, that's featured in mags every so often. Other than that, Kim Saigh was probably the best from Ohio i've ever seen. I doubt she comes back though; she was on that show L.A. Ink and does pretty well out there.

And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!

This is why I kept my tattoo nice and simple. I just don't have the eye for stuff like this. (As proven by multiple viewings of Best Ink, or w/e that show as called.)

I have some issues with the tat, but overall I think it's a cool design and don't feel like getting beat up by a 20-year-old for my internet opinions.

Don't worry folks, JB paid for the tatoo with the insurance money he got from his car getting vandalized.  (that is what I am assuming and will tell any buckeye hater who asks, of course I have no personal knowledge).

southbymidwest's picture

I am from the generation or two before the popularity of tattoos really became more mainstream. There are a lot of tattoos out there that are WTH to me. This one, I understand. Family, faith, home, America, Buckeyes. Darn good combination if you ask me. And yes, that most definitely is a rosary entwined in the art.
