Catching Up With Joey Burrow at the Elite 11

Tonight was the Columbus regional event for the prestigious Elite 11 competition. Ohio State commits Joey Burrow and Danny Clark were in attendance along with many of the best quarterbacks in the country. No finalists for the Elite 11 championship were announced yet from this regional, but at least a few will end up in the finals in southern California.

For Burrow, it was a unique situation, as he committed to Ohio State just this past Tuesday. Still, Burrow performed very well even with all of the additional attention and pressure that comes with being a future quarterback of Ohio State. Burrow was a bit of an under the radar prospect until recently, saying he "wasn't good" last year and has significantly improved. If 3,300 yards and 54 total touchdowns "wasn't good," southeastern Ohio better be on the lookout this fall.

Also for your viewing pleasure, here are some clips of Burrow and Clark throwing at the camp.

Update.  Sheriron Jones and Alex Malzone have been announced tonight as finalists number 13 and 14 respectively.  Keep working hard Mr. Burrows and good luck to you at landing one of the four remaining spots.

Two great future Buckeye QBs. That was a hell of a throw by Clark, who is still young and should get even stronger.

Yeah I was thinking the same. Near perfect throw while rolling out. Makes me excited for the future.

No question. Holy crap, he slung that ball it looked like 40 yards, off balance.

A QB that can throw?  Imagine the possibility.....

Yup there is an "Michigan Man" for you. Burrow talks with poise and respect, while Malzone goes the route of the everyday TTUN recruit. Just makes watching the Buckeyes beat them that much sweeter. Ha.

It does seem that every year the scUM recruits spew this garbage on social media and then subsequently they lose The Game….I guess too many of them heard Mike Hart interviews growing up, 'tis a shame

How did the 4 - 0 talk go from Shane Morris. Remember that among all his other ramblings. Think he is 0 - 1 now if memory serves me correctly.

I can't wait for Danny Clark- kid is gonna be legit. And I think Burrow can be VERY good. It's a great time to be a Buckeye fan.

Makes me want to watch some Ohio high school ball this year.  Burrow is a great addition to OSU and Clark is a freak.

I agree with all of the comments above. Even it TG goes elsewhere, and it seems to me to be likely that he will, I think OSU has some very good QBs lined up.

I forgot about TG for a moment.  I think I'm over him, already.  Even though we could always use another Athlete.

I'm no expert so maybe it's just me but it looks like Burrow is having to try too hard to get the football there on that comeback route which gives me concerns about his arm strength.  On the other hand, Clark looks ridiculously natural and fluid throwing a ball like that for a kid who has three years of high school left.  He's gonna be a beast!

If you are going to critique, Clark left his feet.  Not something that he will be taught to do at the collegiate level.  Burrow has room to grow his arm strength, it's his accuracy and feet you need to pay attention to, those are hardest to teach.

I think Burrow needs to work on his mechanics and footwork.  He makes a lot of throws from mispositioned feet.  Easily correctable, I think.  When that happens, I agree, his accuracy and arm strength will go up as well (although he seems pretty accurate already).

What sells me on Burrows is another thing that really can't be taught, to a certain extent, and that the football IQ thing.  It's been a long time since we've had a QB that is a great field general and game manager in the mental sense.  TP and Braxton were and are phenomenal athletes and good to great QBs, but neither of them seemed to have that mental edge.

That last clip is nasty - talk about slinging it with little effort.

I just want a guy that can read the defense..go through his progressions..and be accurate. I don't care if he can sling it 80 yards down field.
