Amedeo Della Valle Stirring Up Support for Student Government Write-In Campaign, Says He'd Bring In-N-Out to Columbus

Student government elections are generally cared about only by people running for student government as a way to stuff their résumé upon leaving college.

Yet, Ohio State basketball player Amedeo Della Valle has been working up support for a write-in campaign, and damnit, I'm moved. (And I swear this has nothing to do with Della Valle's pledge to bring In-N-Out to Columbus!)

But like all great men, Della Valle has his haterz:

Strong takes there, Corbin. Although I think you could do with a little schoolin' there, mate.

Might make a good student whatever BUT, I can't believe he's one of the first off the bench.  Can't dribble, can't defend and rarely ever has hit a 3 pointer that meant anything.

You must be thinking of Smith... ADV has just about as good of a 3 percentage as Smith or Thompson in less than half the minutes per game.

What exactly does minutes per game have to do with 3 point percentage?

Brady Hoke's reaction to the Urban Meyer hire: "Not good."

I really like ADV as a person, but maybe he should concentrate a bit more on his basketball game.

I think you're over-estimating the amount of time it takes to send a Tweet.

True, but I was taking him seriously about wanting to run for office. Probably me misreading his sarcasm.

Considering he's a student, I'm strangely ok with him not devoting 100% of his time to basketball.

I'd like to see Jack in the Box and Whataburger here before in-n-out. Maybe even Taco Cabana and Bojangles too. At least we finally got Ihop back.

And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!

Living in North Carolina, you can't go 2 miles without seeing a Bojangles or Bojangles sign.

I'm okay with that too, their cajun filet biscuits are choice.

No offense, but Jack in the Box is disgusting.  I ate there a few times when I was stationed at Ft. Campbell and will not ever again.

Whataburger isn't bad...  went there a lot down in Texas, but they are slow.  And their food is kinda greasy.  I found myself ordering chicken strips more often than burgers there, the burgers just didn't smell or taste right to me.  Their main competitor is Dairy Queen Brazier drive through franchises (in Texas, there's an impressive line for both on Sundays at lunch time and their non-dessert menus are strikingly similar) and the rumor is that you can ask for 10% off at the window at Diary Queen and they'll give it to you.  I only had the nerve to do it once and they honored it.

Personally, I'd rather not have either in Columbus, we have too many competing establishments as it is.  Wouldn't mind a few more Sonic's in Columbus, given the volume of advertising we see for them.

hit_the_couch's picture

You don't like Jack in the Box? Shame on you.

Whataburger is slow because they make it while you wait; they're also open 24 hours.

Competition is good and you don't have to eat at either.

And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!

ADV has already brought "In-N-Out " to Columbus!

Hahaha, "Terrist." What does that even mean?

That's the official state of Texas/G.W. Bush pronunciation for "Terrorist".  Don't mess with Texas.

I know this stuff has cued plenty of "he should spend more time worrying about basketball" jokes, but as a student and basketball fan I love Amedeo. The Italian Stallion absolutely adores the university and is loving his time here. He also takes interest in other students and the football team and other things beyond basketball. On the floor, he's not our most talented player, but gets too much hate considering he hustles his ass off every time he's on the floor (LOVED it when he stole it from Brandon Paul and took it the other way for a layup down 20 in garbage time last year at Illinois) and plays with emotion. Quit ragging on Amedeo. He's been a gift to this university. I voted for him.

I know this will sound stupid, but do you have to be a student to vote?

Is this Corbion character for real? So much stupid in so little time. His parents have some work to do.

The big question is, what does he do if he really does win the election, as it seems like it originally was the clever brainchild of the OSU basketball managers? I think he has a shot, given that this year, there are what, six candidates running for president when there are usually one or two? Pretty fragmented voting there.

That being said, if I was a candidate on the ballot, I'm not sure how I would feel about this, especially if I really believe in USG (or my own future political ambitions). I would also have to think that if Amedeo did win, that would mean that most OSU students consider USG to be somewhat of a joke. (Not saying that USG is a joke, it does have value. More importantly, as what I think/don't think is immaterial because I am no longer a student at OSU.)

I gotta be honest. I'd rather have In-N-Out, than him be some kinda superstar on the court. If a seat in the student body is preferred over a seat next to one of Matta's assistants, I say go for it. I think pretty highly of this young man, especially now.

So, living in SoCal I hope I can shed some light on this.  In N Out will not be expanding to the East anytime soon.  They will only build stores within a day drive from one of their distribution centers. The reason it is soo damn good is it's freshness.  Yeah, we can argue if it's the 'best burger ever'.  It's not.  The Counter out here is better.  But also a ton more expensive.  But it is the best bang for your buck and and blows away it's 'fast-food' competitors.  In N Out does not use Microwaves and none of it's ingredients are ever frozen.  So back to fresh.  The lettuce.  The bun. The onions.  The tomatoes.   It just works.  And there is NO BETTER CURE for a hangover than a double-double & rootbeer (if you can get someone else to go wait in line).
The founders (Snyder Family) had a very strong Christian belief.  And most don't know, but you can find bible verses on the outside wrapper of your burger and your drink.
Think I may go Animal Style right now.....
