PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
I have no idea how he would do. Pete seems to do okay but dominated with USC. The coach of the Buckeyes West seems to be on the right track and did a great job with Stanford. My guess is Tress would be like Schottenheimer with the Chargers.
Might depend on whether someone else hires, or has final say on his assistant coaches.
I think he would have to completely change his coaching philosophy. Running "Dave" up the gut 40 times a game won't win many NFL games. He won at tOSU with superior talent and good sound fundamentals, he won't have the talent advantage in the league. The NFL stands for "Not For Long" for a reason.
I agree completely with this.
I don't expect him to fail, but he won't have instant success like he did at Ohio State.
I think he has the "CEO" part down where he commands respect from his players and coaches. I think he could be successful if he hired a very competitive staff unlike what he did later in his career at OSU. However, by today's standards he would be pretty old for a rookie NFL head coach.
If he hired a competitive staff and actually listened to them
I think he's a bit more "micro-manager" and "controller" than "CEO." Don't get me wrong, I love me some JT, but his only skill that would translate well to the NFL is game management. IF he could find a way to empower competent coordinators and resist the temptation to call plays, he might be successful, but that's a big IF...imho.
"The revolution will be televised."
He'll do fine his style fits the NFL
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Sorry JT. I don't like your chances. Doesn't have that NFL edge the best coaches in the league have.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
I think he would be a good coach, but I don't think he'd be a legend anything. He would have to change his approach. I'm not saying his gameplan, I believe he'd have to actually let the coordinators do their job.
Yeah JT would def have to change his ways. He wouldnt be able to field goal his way through games like he did at Ohio State. He would have to be alot more aggressive and develop a cut throat attitude. You cant let off the gas when your facing QB's like Brady, Brees, and Rodgers...
