haha good article always fun to make fun of the michicant
Wyatt Shallman ends the streak for Urban. Many more to follow.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
Shallman? Big deal. OSU doesn't need State of Michigan kids as much as you need Ohio kids.
Shallman was a target, considering Heurman will probably be a Buck, it's no problem. "Many more to follow" is probably wishful thinking.
Great article... Michigan coach, Chris Christie, I mean Fat Fatty, has to be stress eatting like mad over this. I can picture him reading these articles wearing an all blue shirt and munching on Cheetos, then wiping his grubby Cheeto/maize stained fingers on his shirt in an attempt to mimic the winged helmet look.

Haven't seen a troll scUM fan on here in awhile. Take your few in state kids and tOSU leftovers from our state and call it a scUM team lol
Michigan University fans are all excited about their "best recruiting day ever." Haven't looked into but they say they got 4 commits today or something.
They did, and I'm happy that Jabba can eat his Mcdonald's tonight with a smile!
Heres the guys that end it all for Urban Meyer
Wyatt Shallman No. 160 overall
Jourdan Lewis (No. 167)
David Dawson (No. 199.)
LOL is Urban even looking that far down the list
O H I O is the Buckeye State
remember-its not who they get thats important-ITS WHO WE GET-NO WAY THEY WILL OUTCOACH AND OUT RECRUIT URBAN MEYER-NO WAY
Urban will own Hoke!
up to 6 on the day. Added top 50 OT Chris Fox and 4* DE Taco Charlton to go along with Shallaman, Lewis, Bosch (top 50), and Dawson. A nice day in anyones books.
Hoke just took Fox and Taco away from Meyer...Not sure its fair to say that "Meyer is dominating Hoke"...If anything, Hoke has the early lead, not saying it will end that way though.
Whether we want to try and rationalize it or not...Overall, today was a bit of a kick in the cherries from Mich in basketball and recruiting
"Love my State, hate the football"
Alex I love your optimism about our class at 9. We have four now so who do you think the next 5 are? Or are you just saying that because that's what scUM's class is at right now?
According to TOS....two of them that committed to michigan today had offers from Ohio State...and as Alex stated Taco was not one of them.
Gotta give credit to Hoke, he did pick up some good kids today and their OL class looks to be pretty darn good this year after they add Tuley-Tillman. But we'll see where the 2 classes stack up come Feb 2013, wouldnt suprise me if Michigans class is top 5, but if things go our way, we could be competing for top overall.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
@Ohio GF, Shallman and Fox were the 2, we were recruiting Shallman as a tight end, but I think he's gonna play FB for them, I might be wrong though.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
@Alex- I knew Taco hadn't been offered but I've heard him mentioned more than several times and at least thought he was somewhere on Meyer's radar...maybe not though and you definitely know more than me, no doubt. I also have no doubt that, when all is said and done, Meyer definitely will dominate Hoke in 2013, one bad day is a nothing.
A bad day as a Buckeye is better than a good day as a scUM fan.
"Love my State, hate the football"
I would say Meyer's getting his ass kicked on the recruiting trail..
I guess Hokey had a good day of recruiting but we'll have to see how this battle ends up and my bet would be with Urban on top.
@UpNorthBuckeye LOL i like that
"A bad day as a Buckeye is better than a good day as a scUM fan."
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Didn't this same thing happen last year? Michigan got a lot of solid guys all in the beginning but then trailed off toward the end.
FWIW, I still think we end up having a better class than them. Remember we have the best recruiter in the country at the helm.
Flounder needs offensive linemen for his
pro stylespread offense. You guys should read some of the stuff they are saying on mgoblog, they talk wayyyyy more *hit then we do. Especially after yesterday they are reallllyyy running their mouths lol, just wait till we are at 9 recruits, it'll make their class look like a MAC class lol
LOL Michigan fans calling it the "best day ever?" Man, their standards must suck. A regular season basketball win and a handful of recruits? I remember when titles = the best day ever.
Everyone had to know that Hoke was going to lay it all on the line to land a guy named TACO
@Alex - HOLE vs. HOKE - greatest, auto-correct, ever. Even your phone knows what Hoke really is....
Keep Calm and Ignore the Trolls.
Alright, let's try to make some sense here.
Michigan had a really great day on Saturday by almost any standards.
ESPN Game Day (plus Erin Andrews) comes to Ann Arbor; with Erin asking by standers to get a picture on her iPhone of her with Denard. The basketball game is fun, and a winner. The hockey team wins a chippy, fight-filled series with Northern Michigan; the softball and baseball teams win down south. Then, the football recruiting:
Kyle Bosch (4-star OL from Wheaton IL with 21 other offers including Alabama, Michigan State, Nebraska and Notre Dame.)
Wyatt Shallman (4-star ATH from Detroit/Novi Catholic Central with a flock of other offers including Michigan State, Cincinnati, Syracuse and Ohio State.)
Jourdan Lewis (4-star CB from Detroit Cass Tech who had offers from Michigan and Toledo)
David Dawson (4-star OL from Detroit Cass Tech whose junior year was spent in Houston with a tone of offers from Alabama, Baylor, Arkansas, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Missouri and UCLA.)
Chris Fox (4-star OL from Colorado who may be a 5-star and is almost certainly a top-100 national recruit.)
Taco Charlton (4-star from Pickerington Central with offers from Nebraska, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Pitt, Purdue and Cincinnati)
By any measure, this is a huge recruiting haul; six guys who comprise more than a quarter of the class of 2013. With the three instate kids, it continues the dominance over MSU within the state. And it is a very big day for Michigan recruiting over Notre Dame recruiting.
I agree with those who posted above that this day was a lot less significant in Meyer-versus-Hoke recruiting. I think only Chris Fox was regarded as a serious priority for Ohio State. Catholic Central (Novi) is a Michigan feeder school; Taco Charlton did not have an OSU offer (although I am confident he'd have gotten one if he had shown interest). While it was a very good day for Brady Hoke, none of it represents any personal recruiting victory over Ohio State.
M Man, one of the few Michigan fans I respect. Nice breakdown!
All of what M Man said is true and can end the discussion about yesterday. They had a great recruiting day, no two ways about it. I think we can all agree, though, that we are situated to have a great class as well. Talking ish in February about recruiting classes is only slightly less dumb than talking ish about the 2012 season itself.
At the end of the day it is unlikely that either OSU or ttun will be outside of the top 10 (maybe top 5) in recruiting next year, but getting too high or low in February is not worth the effort...
Yeah Michigan definately had a solid recruiting day. They're stacking their O-line up big time. Should be a good battle up front in years to come
M man, agree with you (except for the Taco offer). It's just amazing to me that we (11W members) show you so much respect but I would almost guarantee if (and I'm sure we will) if tOSU had the same type of recruiting day and this type of summary was placed on the mgoblog website , we (whoever posted it) would probably get banned from the site. I would like too think that says something about the difference between the two fan bases. Excluding what I said, it's amazing the difference in tone of both fan bases when you read each sites comments. I appreciate the perspective from a rival fan, and I feel like that's what make us better than scUM.
serious serious serious LOL at BTAlbert:
"Everyone had to know that Hoke was going to lay it all on the line to land a guy named TACO"
hahaha
Brady Hoke still has no idea they recruited Charlton. What happened, an assistant asked "Do you want Taco?" (because that's how you have to talk to the philosopher king) and he responded with an emphatic "Yes". Brady Hoke is still waiting on his mexican food.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
^^ brilliant
hahaha
the ozone may have to amend their article title! I personally want Michigan to be good again though I love nothing more than beating them straight up. No fun winning if no one else has any respect in the conference.
"They hate us because they ain't us" - Sully
@ m man I was just wondering where you got the rankings for those players hokey just recruited. I couldnt find a ranking for most of them , just the few that i post from scout.com ( i didnt look real hard tho) just wanted to know who did the rankings?
O H I O is the Buckeye State
We all know that the 2013 class will be a lot smaller than 2012, we have to be a little more picky on who we take, so far we have some of the top players in the country and should continue to add a few more. I am still glad that The Team Up North is doing good, we should all want the best players around this area to stay in the BIG so the whole conference gets better and we start dominating the SEC. Overall though in the end we all know there can only be ONE! GO Bucks!
Not gonna lie, I am jealous at the success that scUM is having, I hate to see it, but I am accepting because I know The Game is gonna be exponentially better than years past in the future.
And then I also realize, we have very high caliber prospects committed, and more expected, and UFM at the helm, and its not even March 2012 yet. Plenty of time, and I am excited to see this whole thing shape up.
Go BUCKS!!!!
Why care so much that all these kids committed over the weekend? Everyone should have known that they were going to sign around 25 kids by signing day, and that almost all of those commits would be 4* guys, so who cares whether they get their commitments now, or if they come on signing day. I would prefer to focus on our recruiting class now, and then start comparing when we get closer to signing day.
@RickB25- The notion that this '13 class is going to be a lot smaller than '12 isn't accurate. Going to be room for 20-22 kids by the time all is said and done.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
M Man, I know a lot of people around OSU think it's a matter of time before Dymonte Thomas switches to OSU (or at least a good chance of it happening). What are the rumblings about him in the michigan circles?
I think Dymonte a long way from switching back at this point, its just the matter of there still being a year of his cousin Brionte being in his ear.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
I think it is a position of real need for us, and Thomas must know that he'll have a chance to play, early. It is almost a weekly feature at MGoBlog; "This Week In Dymonte Thomas Writing Funny Tweets About How Solid He Is To Michigan." But I sympathize with you; I know how it feels to be in your position -- I thought Michigan was going to nab Bri'onte Dunn.
Never say never. The fact that Dymonte keeps Tweeting about it must mean something. Maybe it is just that he keeps getting asked about it by everybody. But I'll bet that Dymonte will be wearing the winged helmet. He said he was going to visit Brio'onte at school, for the fun of it. So you can ask Dymonte, if you see him in Columbus. If you are a booster, be very careful what you say. We've been dreaming about a Safety like this for a very long time.
I think part of the reason Buckeye fans think theres a chance he flips is that he didn't want people to know he was still allowing coaches to visit him at his high school. Couple that with having family go to OSU along with being an OSU fan gives us as good a chance as any.
I'm going to semi-side with M Man on Dymonte. I'm not sold on the prospect of him flipping to tOSU (especially given tOSU's interest in Marcell Harris, who fits the same spot). However, he has not told Urban he's not interested. He's saying all the right things in public in order to maintain his position with our rival, but he's also going to visit tOSU--"just to visit Bri'onte". Going to be one of THE most interesting recruiting stories to follow over this next year, because IF he does flip, that will most assuredly knock the air out of TSUN.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
Nothing would bring me more joy than nabbing Dymonte from Michigan. M Man, you say that he could go to Michigan for early playing time but I imagine he would have the same opportunity at Ohio State.
He goes to the same high school as one of my childhood friends. Big time Ohio State country out in Marlington.
Brady had a good start on recruiting in 2012 and now in 2013 but Urban Meyer is the Rockstar and Brady is just the opening act.
If tsun wants to keep Thomas they better keep him away from Urban and i say that cause i think Urban is as good as they say he is.
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Coach Meyer has shown himself to be a tremendous recruiter at Ohio State.
For his part, Coach Meyer (in his Florida days) said that Greg Mattison was “the best recruiter in the country.” Rivals later named Mattison "the best recruiter in the conference."
Yes, watching Dymonte Thomas's senior year of high school, up to next February's signing day, will be interesting.
Yes, Urban did have to say that about Mattison dammit.
m man do you think Mattison plays a bigger part in recruiting than Brady or not?
O H I O is the Buckeye State
All those guys and no five stars?
Same old, same old from that school up north.
What will they do if and when Dymonte backs out?
LCB
XTREME - Personally, I think Mattison is overrated. Not because he isn't good; he obviously is. But when our recruits are interviewed, Mattison's name rarely comes up. I think that one line from Meyer, along with the irony of Mattison and Meyer now going up against each other, has made this story. Mind you, this isn't a knock on Mattison; my guess is that Meyer is probably getting too much recrtuiting credit and his recruiting coordinators are getting too little in much the same way. As for Hoke, every single person I know of says that Hoke has created a fantastic overall atmosphere that recruits and their families are instantly attracted to -- "family," "caring," "personal" -- that reminds me of what a lot of recruits liked about Tressel.
I didn't mean to ignore this question earlier; I just didn't see it. Sorry.
I think that all eight (now add Logan Tuley-Tillman) are 4-stars on Rivals. A lot of kids are not yet rated on ESPN. Some are not rated on Scout.
I think it is a fair question that you ask, and somebody else wondered about whether any of these guys are true studs and potential five-stars. As I say, Rivals has all of them as 4's. I don't think anybody who has rated any of them has any at 3 stars. My guess is that Michigan's 2013 class, when all is said and done, may have four 5-stars. Specifically: QB commit Shane Morris (currently a four-star bordering on five); OL commit Chris Fox (currently a four-star bordering on five), possibly S commit Dymonte Thomas and two prospective recruits, Ty Isaac (future fiver?) and Su'A Cravens. Maybe more; but I am admittedly guessing about prognisticating about ratings. On the internet. A wholly responsibility-free exercise.
@M Man- Haven't heard Su'a Cravens name associated with our rival yet, aside from the fact that they are amongst the dozens of schools to have offered. Would be really surprised to see Hoke swing that one.

If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
4 stars are good tho Lakecobuck, Tressell didn't get that many 5 star guys either, only a few every class, he mostly turned a lot of 3-4 star guys into superstars, Hawk,Lauranitis,Jenkins etc. I know most people don't want Michigan to do well but I think it brings the rivarly back a bit, it seems like the past 5-6 years as it used to be. I just hope Michigan doesn't get recruits we want. other then that they can get who ever I don't really care. And M Man I think you are the first TSUN fan that is not baised as all can be and gives legit arguements and see's the other side of things. I know I am not always like that!
If a team lands more than 1, 5 Star player their class is going to be highly rated. Look at the top classes on Rivals for the last few years. Hardly any ever get more than 4. If Michigan lands 4, 5 star players this year on Rivals, they'll have the number 1 overall class. You just don't see many teams get more than 3, Rivals 5 star players. Right now, as great as the OSU start is, there's only 1 Rivals 5 star. Perhaps Woodard and Marshal will get there as well, but it's too early to tell.
I guess what I'm saying is, you don't have to have a class loaded with 5 star players to have a great class. The class Meyer just signed had 2. Next year may be the same when all is said and done. I'm skeptical Michigan will land 4, but they don't need 4, 5 stars players. Great classes are made up of 15+ 4 stars and a couple of 5 star players.
