Wisconsin's 2014 Football Schedule is a Walk in the Park

ESPN's College Football Twitter account asked us this morning, "Will Wisconsin win more than 9 games this season?" After a quick glance of its schedule... let's hope so.

As the de facto kingpins of the B1G's West division, it would take a disaster to envision a scenario in which the Badgers fail to win 9 games.

Sure, Wisconsin opens up with LSU, a game it will likely lose. But after that? Bowling Green is the toughest opponent on the docket all the way until a mid-November date with Nebraska (whom the Badgers host, natch).

Yeah, I guess South Florida might present a stiff test as well, but that Big Ten slate is brutal.

Unless you're the Badgers, in which case avoiding Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan and Penn State is a stroke of destiny. Somewhere in a cave nestled into the Ozarks, Bert Bielema is shaking his head in disgust.

Wheeeeeeeew!  Look at 'Bama's SOS.  That vicious SEC schedule!

95. Alabama – 71-79, 47.33%

not trying to be a dork, but didnt bortles play for UCF? i dont know if south florida has ever had a good QB (now lets hear everyone prove me wrong haha)

Yup, Bortles played for UCF. Not sure if USF ever had a good QB, but they got up to #2 in the polls for like a week in 2007.

When I walked in this morning and saw the flag was at half mast I thought, "Alright, another bureaucrat ate it." but then I saw it was Li'l Sebastian. Half mast is too high. Show some damn respect.

They had a kid named Matt Grothe that was pretty good. B.J. Daniels also had a pretty good statistical college career there.

WELL PLAYED OMBRE.

I fixed it.

LSU, Nebraska, Iowa/ Minnesota are the only tests.  I see them winning at least 2/4 which means they will win 10 games.

Columbus to Pasadena: 35 hours.  We're on a road trip through the desert looking for strippers and cocaine... and Rose Bowl wins!

How in the hell do they avoid everyone but the bottom of the barrel in the East?

Bert would lose at least 7 on this schedule with his Razorbacks

And given his past history, he'd end up playing in the Rose Bowl.

I know LSU has talent in silos of oversigned classes, but they lost just enough from the previous season that I think UW has a chance in that one.

Cake eating when you look at the Wisky schedule - how the hell did they get this? And why wouldn't the coaches say hell no?

Go Bucks!

We had a pretty weak schedule last year as well, LSU may make it tougher than what we had in 2013.

Yeah, well…that’s just like, your opinion, man.

Kurt's picture

Yes it does.  And also, no one should be overlooking Maryland this coming season.

I agree MD has put together respectable recruituing classes, better than most in the B1G. Injuries did them in more than anything last season.

If recent history is any indication, Wisconsin will lose to Northwestern as the winner of that game has been the hosting team over the last several meetings. 9-10 wins for Wisconsin is very doable with the given schedule they have.

Look closely, because the closer you think you are, the less you will actually see.

considering Wisky has won 9 or more in 8 of the last 10 years I don't think it is surprising that we expect that many or more wins this year regardless of schedule, since 2004 they have averaged 9.6 wins a year

As long as they beat Iowa and/or Nebraska—who won't go undefeated either—and only lose to one of the two, Wisconsin's going to Indy.

BuckeyeChris's picture

What I'd love ... UW to beat LSU and then, well, I don't care.

What I figure will happen... LSU will thump UW by 20 (what, with all their SEC speed) and then UW will run the table in the (pre-determined) "weak" B1G.  Ugh...

Random or not, the big ten couldn't look at the WISC schedule and think, "how the hell did that happen?!" And then "that shouldn't happen." ? Wow is all I can say.

They finally play someone non conference, then they pull this B10 schedule. Still wold have to go through us in Indy.

I believe Wiscy beats LSU, under dog game at home. I WANT them to win for the B1G Preception in the Country as a really close 2nd to SEC, Heck! Iowa almost beat them in a Bowl game last year!
