Texas' Steve Edmond: Baylor "Sucks"

Let's play a game of juxtaposition. Here's the box score from last year's Texas-Baylor matchup:

  First second third fourth total
Texas 0 3 0 7 10
Baylor 3 0 17 10 30

That's a pretty decisive victory for anybody who didn't/doesn't attend/support the University of Texas.

Now here's Texas linebacker Steve Edmond this weekend:

Hmmmmm. I don't think you can talk like that after getting scrubbed by 20 points, Steve.

I hated watching Baylor this year. Even my wife, who doesn't watch football, was commenting on how they played the game. I remember watching a lot of plays they made this year and thinking they were d-bags. I can really understand why this player wouldn't like them (he still shouldn't be saying it in public). Watch this play for example, and don't just look at the hit, watch afterwards the Baylor player yells something to the injured player while he's one the ground and then starts celebrating when he knows the guy is hurt:

If you watched Baylor this year, this kind of thing happened week after week after week. I'm not a UT fan by any means but I'd like to see them win by 20 this year.

Agreed. Not to mention that they basically try to copy off of Oregon with their unis.

The Dumas play was just a hard hit. He didn't go for the head or upper body.

I know this has been discussed for years and I'm not expecting Kirk Herbstreit to be to us as DBag Desmond Howard is to TTUN, but God at least have some pride in where you came from. I just hate Herbie and the way he comes off now. He is so worried that people will just think he is so pro Ohio State that he never seems to talk positively about them unless OSU winning is a sure thing and he doesn't wanna sound like an idiot that picks his team to win by double digits against Alabama...(Hi Desmond Howard)

Herbie, come home and stop being a pompous jackass with Paul Mitchell styling gel in your hair.

I think the guy from Oklahoma gets his right foot down for a second time and lowers his head toward contact.  Huge missed call by the officiating crew.  That is a fumble recovery, first down Baylor.  OU got a huge break on that call.  Lowering his head was a clear act to defend himself, hence he should have been fair game.

A receiver attempting to catch a pass, or one who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier.

The defender left his feet and led with his head.  That is a penalty.

Being at the Fiesta and watching Baylor come in clearly expecting to walk all over UCF, then get punked all game, was a truly enjoyable experience.  That said, not sure how you can run your mouth like that after getting beaten by 3 TDs.  If Baylor sucks, Texas ______ (fill in the blank)?

If you spent more than 15 minutes in Waco you'd say the exact same thing.

My wife used to teach in Waco when we lived near Austin and just for the record we weren't part of the Branch Dividians

When I got out of the 'Corps I spent a couple of months in Waco staying with some friends. To this day it remains the only place I've been where I had someone start a fight with me in every single bar I walked into. Luckily Texans are actually not very good at fighting. I believe I've mentioned here before that it's also the only place where I had a cop tell me "we don't like yer kind 'round here".

Good times.

That Auburn player still hasn't gotten up. Is it bad if that hit made me slightly aroused?
