Report: Jim Bollman to Accept Michigan State Offensive Coordinator Job
Sources tell us Jim Bollman is expected to accept the Michigan State OC job
— FootballScoop Staff (@footballscoop) February 27, 2013
If this report holds true, Michigan State just got easier.

Good lord, Dantonio. I didn't think MSU's offense could possibly regress, but you proved me wrong.
I think when Urban blasted the rest of the B1G for terrible recruiting, he should have included B1G teams need to improve their coaching staffs too...
Not long ago, a rumor that Tressel was taking the same position there was swirling around. Too bad for them this one isn't a rumor.
Is this real life?
No relation to OSUFORLIFE...
lol beat me to it. was getting the .gif ready
"Winter is coming" - Urban Meyer
or is this just fantasy?
Sadly.
I was looking forward to beating the tar out of Purdue next year, but now, they might actually beat the Bucks. Shoot.
/Duff'd It
Caught in a landslide....
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
No escape from the BIG-TEN reality.
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
C'mon, we already have a thread for this...
/Duff'd It
Phew. I was worried Dantonio might be building something that could actually challenge OSU one day.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Wait, does this mean he's leaving Hazell and Purdue in the lurch?
Also, goo goo g'joob!
Hazel hired John Shoop. You may recall when he was OC with the Chicago Bears, the Bears offense couldn't move the ball across the street. Hazel doesn't have room for two proven duds.
WAIT....Two Big Ten teams are going to let their offenses be run by John Shoop and Jim Bollman respectivley? This day just keeps getting better.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Oh nice...I could've swore Bollman got hired by Purdue too. Walrusball flocks north.
Class of 2010.
He was hired by Purdue as the Offensive Line Coach, not the Offensive Coordinator, so this move gets him back to the level he was at OSU.
Really?
JB: What, you didn't think I actually took Purdue seriously did you?
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
This also can't help their chances with Drake Harris
This is a disaster waiting to happen for MSU. And just when you think their offense couldn't go any further back than it already had...
It's true... We really are a bunch of nuts!
Go Bucks!
Dave left...Dave right...Incomplete pass...Punt.
You forgot the Dave constraint play: False start.
4-6 seconds of relentless effort
Or if the 3rd down is long enough (after 2 of the constraint plays in a row) the 3rd down call will be QB draw.
QB draws on 3rd and long are just to set up for the inevitable 3rd and long Playaction bomb down the field. that takes 12 seconds to unfold. DUH.
Or play-action on 3rd and 20.
Out of an I-formation 2 WR set
Blah my browser was acting up didn't see that you already brought this up. Glad to see I'm not the only person who VIVIDLY remembers that
Dave middle, Dave middle, Play-Action sack, PUNTMAGEDDON
/Duff'd It
4th and 3, opponent's 35 -- Punt.
I do not watch this show, what happened that caused that reaction. Classic!
Hahahahahahahahhaahahhaha. Hahahahhahaha. That Is all.
Is this real life?
It amazes me that a dullard like Bollman and his antiquated, unimaginative approach to offense can get an OC job at a Big Ten school after displaying ineptitude year in and year out at OSU. Dantonio's going to be in trouble at MSU if he's making decisions like this.
So they want to have an even worse offense next year than they had this past year?

Unless dantonio is taking the tressel approach and just hired bollman as an empty suit to get him coffee every day and dantonio is going to take a shot at calling plays like tressel did.....
Dantonio is a defensive guy. Highly doubt that happens.

Sparty must be salivating at the thought of their possible new "3 plays and a cloud of punt Offense".

At least they signed Damion Terry (a solid DT talent) at QB last year. He fits Bollman's offense perfectly. Oh wait....
Guess now we're going to lose punters to Sparty.

When I saw the headline I thought 11W was starting an "Onion"-style parody/satire section.
We need Mike Valenti's opinion on this, stat.
And their fans thought roushar was bad?
It would have been nice to see Hankins go up against that dumpster fire. Too bad Sparty isn't on the schedule the next two season to see what our kids would do to them before Bollman gets fired.

Right. Only if we could have gotten rid of Herman.

Some enterprising alumni should pay American Leader Kirk Cousins to lead Bollman far, far away from East Lansing.
Taquitos.
?!
How is it possible that two B1G programs are fighting for this man's services? Maybe Hazell and Dantonio aren't as bright as I once believed.
This is why the B1G can't have nice things. (Unless, of course, you have Urban Meyer as your coach.)
It's true... We really are a bunch of nuts!
Go Bucks!
I can't....I can't even....
Seriously?
What about Boston College's 111th ranked offense impressed MSU?
What's next? Nick Siciliano as QB coach?
I know it's fun to make fun of Bollman, and I have and will continue to, but this is bad news for a couple of reasons.
1) We want Sparty to be good, because they have have been one of the better teams in the league that has struggled nationally.
2) We want Sparty to be good to compete with tsun in recruiting and on the field.
I don't think msu hiring Bollman will help either of those causes. So, while kind of funny, this move is also kind of sad.
Won't bother me one bit. We have Urban Meyer. That's all I care about.

Freakin' hilarious! It's Bollman in the press box call the game!
I guess Dantonio's precious "gentelman's agreement" doesn't apply to the hiring of coaches.
Trying to post a pic but the screen just goes white. Weird.

I ran into the same issue but it worked now that I'm replying instead of just posting; definitely weird.

Bollman is psyched and getting ready...
Someone actually downvoted this? Is Bollman's kid a 11W commenter??
No, they're from PETA. Obviously, comparing Bollman to the majestic Walrus is insulting to the walrus.
Michigan's road to the B1G championship game just got a whole lot easier for this upcoming season. MSU was already losing quite a bit on defense, as well as offense.
Now with them adding Bollman, the only real legitimate threats are Nebraska, who has to play at Michigan next year, and maybe Northwestern.

Gotta be happy Hazell dodged that mustachioed bullet.

I didn't see this before, hysterical.
And out there in Boiler-land, many are silently breathing a sigh of relief while East Lansing pharmacists are stocking up on heartburn meds.
I was not on 11W when this was made, but this is the funniest thing I have seen in a looong time.

Drake Harris might want to be heading to OSU about now...
Did MSU lose their old OC?
Yes, he went to the Saints as the RB coach I believe. He didn't leave on the best of terms.
Bollman? guy must have some pictures of the entire osu staff he worked with
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Best Wednesday ever!!
Urban Meyer starts putting some pressure on Big Ten coaches to improve. Dantonio, in the ultimate act of defiance, hires an offensive coordinator that will all but guarantee that no top level offensive line, quarterback or wide receiver talent will ever show up on campus at MSU and that, when thought impossible, their offense will devolve into something terrible. Punting on 3rd down to allow for a second chance a bad snap perhaps? Just, wow.
Is this Dantonio's way of comiting career suicide? Now that his boy Bielema's gone he just said F-it!
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
You know the old saying..."Once you go walrus, you don't go back"
I'm pretty sure we did go back.
They also just signed a couple of Relief Punters to come out of the bullpen.

Breaking News
Michigan State has called a press conference to announce Nick Siciliano as their new quarterbacks coach.
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
My response to Sparty.
I am seeing/hearing a couple things about this hire:
1.) Most associated with OSU or cover OSU are saying that Bollman is a good guy and a nice guy and whatnot. This explains why coaches (Tressel, Hazell, Dantonio) are friends with him and obviously like the guy. Friends shouldn't let friends hurt their football teams though.
2.) MSU fans are saying that they are not listening to the OSU folks, calling them "haters", and are trusting that Dantonio knows what he's doing.
3.) Is there a "gentleman's agreement" in place regarding the stealing of other school's coaches? If so, Saint Dantonio just violated it.
This can't be real life!? Can it?
Are we positive Bollman was calling the plays for tOSU or was Tress? Just askin'
buckeyboy
Love it.
at least we know how to defend it
yeah, don't let the guys playing defense get bored to sleep
Maybe he lost a bet with the sweater vest.
Jim Bollman's best called games( during his last few years at OSU), IMO, were the Sugar Bowl win vs Arkansas and the loss to Miami in Miami (Bauser Bomb Bowl).... where he called plays Jim Bollman typically wouldn't call.
Funniest thing said on MSU boards is that Tressels conservative nature held Bollman back. And along with the 2011 suspensions and dissarray that followed, it wasn't Bollmans fault. Nothing like trying to find that ray of sunshine. Sounds like Urban made a big mistake letting the Walrus go??
There's putting a positive spin on the news ..... and then there's that.
LOL. We actually won with Tressel. When Tressel was gone and Bollman was running the offense by himself we saw how horrible he really was. He single handedly lost the Nebraska game for us that year. When Braxton went out with an injury and Bauserman came in, we were far enough ahead to run on every play and milk the clock. What did he call? Three Bauserbombs and a punt on every single drive. We took no time off the clock and gave Nebraska an easy opportunity to come back and win. Think what you want Sparty. You guys are f***ed.

Who was holding Bollman back at BC in 2012 during his one-year stint there as "run game coordinator"?
BC went from averaging 3.6 yds/carry in 2011 to 3.1 yds/carry in 2012.
Blame it on the Irish!
Lmao! They're obviously in denial, looking for any shred of hope.

I can't stop laughing @ this.
Yeah, uh huh, Urban made a big mistake. Been doing that since he got here. Excuse me, I have to go move my 12-0 shirts to the dryer now.
Lol wow the Walrus really?? Couldnt find anybody better than the Walrus??? Good luck....
Somebody's on his game.
And because it's funny...

It really isnt on topic but it's too funny not to include.

So after watching the offensive display that was sparty vs brutus 2011 Dantonio decided he had to get him some of that?!? This can't be real life. This is sad for the B1G; very sad. Hiring Bollman is not how you improve an offense or recruiting.

Please oh please tell me this is really true and not some hateful joke. This is going to be hilarious when we get Sparty. No championships for you, come back one year!
Crap the bed, I just checked the schedule and Sparty isn't on it for this season. No way in hell Bollman makes it a second year. I guess we won't get a chance to show him how an offense is supposed to work.
But he'll get to see it on Espn while he eats doughnuts every morning for sure.
Unless we meet for the conference championship but w bolman as the oc, not likely to happen.
Just Sparty being Sparty.
what a craptacular pick
Is it bad that i want to go troll the msu 247 board now lmao haha

I decided to look out of curiosity and found this gem:
Oh, you poor Sparty people, you. The fact that the whole of the Big Ten is laughing at you should hint that this is neither a good move nor sour grapes. How soon you'll learn.
I'd like to personally ask Dantonio, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!" but I'd be laughing so hard, I couldn't get it out.

Oh, the insanity. Wish I could keep getting high pay work for poor performance. So glad we have not gotten some coaches that had ties and seemed to be in line ... Glen Mason, Pelini ... add Dantonio to that list. Sparty goes Stone Age
Glen Mason is still the best coach Minnesota has had in the past 15 years, same with Dantonio at MSU, but not Pelini at Nebraska. Passed up a quality coach in Solich for Bill CaLOLhan.
/Duff'd It
He may not know it but I'd say Darrel Hazell just dodged a bullet.
More like dodging an A-bomb.
Always referred to Dantonio as Tressel light. This more than confirms that.
Not sure who to credit, but I had to save this for a day like this.

I'm can't help but laugh/cringe at the excitement that Spartan fans have with this hire. I can't seem to convince them no matter how much evidence that Walrus is a bad hire.
They're now making new hats in East Lansing...
I think John Lennon didn't really die, he just decided to sabotage American football, and so became The Walrus, Jim Bollman.

Well, I guess we can say the Walrus has the perfect QB in Andrew Maxwell to run his offensive system ;)

Forgot to mention one of the wrinkles the walrus would throw into game plans for the big games: punt on third down.
