PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Seems a lateral move, at best.
Seems like Arkansas is a program that thinks itself to be a nine; but in reality, it's more like a six or seven.
You are being generous in your lateral assessment.
Very much so, but it could be argued that--though Arkansas is lacking in facilities and prestiege--the SEC's recruiting grounds are far more fertile than those in the Plains, especially with Nebraska's under-exposure in the area because of leaving the Big 12. Pelini stands a chance to win B1G championships at Nebraska, while he'll never win the SEC--let alone his own division--with Miles and Saban standing in the way; but he might have a better chance of overall success due to the players he'll have access to and the general over-inflation of the SEC's quality bouying up the rest of the league's non-bluebloods.
So, at best, a lateral move. If I'm him, I'd keep padding my resume at Nebraska and wait until one of the bigger programs opens up.
Agreed. good points. Also, I've heard the Nebraska fanbase is nothing but stellar. Why leave a program that seems to be on the rise and could definitely contend for conference championships for Arkansas(meh) and start over, facing Miles, Richt, Saban etc.
Also...CORN! No brainer if you ask me...
Agreed, Hodge. I would think the football culture at Nebraska would be more desirable than that of Arkansas. I also heard "rumors" of Jimbo Fisher going to Auburn. Again, why?
The only way I could see Pellini going to Arkansas is if he sees the writing on the wall in Lincoln. I've talked to a couple of Nebraska alumni who worry that Pellini has hit his ceiling at Nebraska. They want a guy who can bring in a national championship.
I agree it is a lateral move. Bo has a good thing going in Lincoln. He can be king of the Legends division for a few years, go to the Rose Bowl this year and any other year OSU is headed to greener pastures. Besides, the fan base accepts his red faced rants. Stay in Lincoln Bo, you have out kicked your coverage anyway.
Good, go. Replace one bum with another. I just hope the rumors around my home state of Illinois are true and Illinois is interested in that bum Bobby Petrino.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
I like your last comment.
Illinois is interested in Bobby Petrino's bum? Weird.
I think they just want to bring in pretty interns and that would certainly come with a Petrino hire. U of I girls are all very smart-but a majority of them look like feet.
he's been doing lots of squats and lunges.

Every year there is a rumor that Pelini is going somewhere else, but he never does. And why would he go to Arkansas? Its a move down to go from a top 5 all time winningest program in Nebraska to a middle of the pack SEC team. Besides, whatever Pelini's abilities as a coach, he seems to have finally turned a corner at Nebraska and with the B1G down, and OSU off the schedule for the next 4 years, he'll only have to beat Mich to make it the championship game. Thats a pretty good situation.
good point. Forgot he avoids us for a while. In the regular season, anyway...
Charlie Strong may end up at Arkansas (just don't take Quick with you).
I think Charlie Strong could end up at Auburn...
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
True...it'd be great to get him into the B1G, like Purdue perhaps.
I don't see why he would even want to do this. He's at a program with a history of winning, and that's had a winnign record for as long as he's been there. Why would he take over the dumpster fire that is Arkansas?
Also, good point above about him dodging OSU in the regular season for the next 4 years. All he has to do is defeat the evil Jabba LaHoke and he's in the CCG.
Arkansas is a dumpster fire of a place that will seemingly always play third fiddle to LSU and Bama. I wouldn't want to touch that job if I were a coach.
However, many believe, as do I, that Nebraska is an old gray mare who ain't what she used to be. They may be a top 5 program all time, but they are not as attractive as they once were. I honestly believe their days of being nationally relevant are over. They left the Big 12 to get out of the shadow of Texas and Oklahoma and to make some more $$$$, but was it the right decision? Pelini may have hit his ceiling of what he can do there, but I doubt someone else will come in and do better.
People have said that about ND for awhile now
Crazier coach: John L Smith or Bo Pelini? Arkansas has become a circus.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
well, they went from Houston Nutt
It is a lateral move but if he goes to ARK he would only have to fulfill the expectations of a fanbase that just worshipped where Petrino got them and knows it has a history of being the 3rd or 4th best team in the conference, at best. At ARK u only need to beat Saban or Miles once every 3/4 years and make a BCS bowl to satisfy those fans for life. Nebraska still fancies itself a "national" power (LULZ) despite the fact that its in a recruiting desert and has been in the spirals of decline for over a decade now. But those fans are delusional and think they're one step away from being nationally elite again, when the reality is Bo took them as high as they can go in today's world.
The description at the end of your post sounds a lot like Notre Dame minus this year. I realize Nebraska is a bit further away from civilization (recruits) and isn't the "quality" of Notre Dame, despite being a pretty good football brand. However, I still think they can make a comeback as an elite team. College football supremacy runs in cycles, no need to jump ship at Nebraska.
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
I have the same question as everyone else, "But is he interested?" I think some Nebraska fans have gotten antsy and wanted a change (which in my opinion would be a mistake), but if he left for what is definitely a lesser program (won't be as generous as Hodge), they would be pissed. That would be a huge slap in the face. I agree, stay put compete with ttun for a Legends Division championship and go to the Rose Bowl every once in awhile. That all sounds good to me. Who knows maybe they pull of an undefeated season and make a championship playoff in there too?
ESPN was talking about how he deserves and may want a bigger job? I'm not sure, but I'd think coaching at NEB is a pretty big-time program, but he may want to return to the SEC and they were talking about either ARK or Aub. as possible destinations.
Easily this is a lateral move & one that wouldn't make much sense to me but who knows what makes someone tick...Truthfully, after the Nebraska games press conference last year, I got a feeling that he wanted the OSU job & pretty badly at that. The way he was going on about how he hoped Braxton was OK & what an athlete he is, I almost felt bad for Nebraska fans that he was making it so obvious...Point is that I do think he wants a "bigger" job & I guess you could look at a 2nd/3rd tier SEC team as a bigger job...Because, in case you hadn't heard, the SEC is the greatest conference of all time ever....EVER DAMMIT!

Why would Pelini even consider leaving Nebraska for Arkansas unless they were will to pay him an NFL $?
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
Now Arkansas pursuing Les Miles...5 yrs $27 million. Doubt he leaves LSU but it should get him a nice pay raise from LSU.
