PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Interesting concept. I want to see a gray out sometime.
Class of 2010.
South endzone's wearing scarlet, defeating the purpose of stripes
I'm glad to see this.
I think the gameday traditions we have are great, but it doesn't take much travelling around to realize that we can always do more.
There aare 2 things OSU should begin to fully embrace:
Not sure if they are doing this, but I don't see this really working out too well unless they provide the shirts
Are they providing shirts?
"We have always had the best damn band in the land, now we have the best damn team in the land"- Jim Tressel 1-03-03
i dont think so but i also don't think it's too much to ask OSU fans to own a grey and/or a scarlet colored shirt. like, i literally own something like 10 of them
also you could just go to goodwill and buy one for a buck
I agree... However, if nobody knows about it!
It's more like at the gate we say your in this section here you go.
Really hope this works..could be an amazing sight
"Winter is coming" - Urban Meyer
Not the possession of the colors Im worried about from the fans, its whether or not people actually do it. Thought it was kind of funny when they had the 'Scarlet Fever' for PSU a few years ago... our stadium is always 99% scarlet anyways... if it works great, if not, not surprised.
I don't see this working. At. All.
That's the spirit.
Just being realistic.
I will wear my throwback jersey from last year regardless. If the university wants to do this right they should supply the shirts. Just put and XL on every seat and that should cover just about everyone in the stadium. It really wouldn't cost the university that much and it would make for a neat souvenir and it would get the desired effect they are looking for. I'm superstitious and tend to wear the same thing every week. Like the throwback from last year to the non conference games and my #45 jersey to the B1G games. I might change my mind and wear a gray shirt, but don't count on it.
"Say my name."
Ohio State would never do that. Give away free stuff when there's money to be made? Shame on you!
I hear ya William! But 105,000 shirts is about 15, $4.00 H2O's. I know it will never happen, but it would be a nice gesture.
Really? For this to work tOSU would have to supply the shirts? If you don't have at least one of each turn in your fan card ASAP
Most teams that do this supply the shirts I think, although I could be wrong. Did Iowa not supply the shirts when they did this? I certainly know that Barcelona has supplied shirts to their fans in the past to do this. Also OSU's athletic department made what, $120 million last year? They can afford to give out shirts... On another note, I can't stand all of the "If you don't do or have this you should turn in your fan card" statements. I don't care if it's in jest or not, it's just dumb and petty.- Not going off on you Pam, I just think that statement has been used far too often lately.
Edit: Iowa fans did have to purchase shirts, but I mean c'mon, their athletic department doesn't have anywhere near the same amount of cash as ours. http://www.hawkeyesports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/092610aak.html
You can't stand my comment, think it's dumb and petty and think it is overused. Thanks for not going off on me.
I am trying to imagine a fan going to the game on Sat. thinking " That Scarlett & Gray thingy sounds cool. Too bad I don't own a scarlett or gray shirt. I sure hope they hand some out."
It's not whether they have the shirt or not, it's whether they even know we're doing it and if they know what color they're supposed to wear. Not every fan goes on football blogs/osu sites everyday to know about stuff like this.
Pam, I'm sure most Buckeye fans have either a Scarlet +/or a Gray shirt. My point is to get the most visual effect out of the ploy supplying the shirts would be the best bet. What they are going to get now is a half assed effort. I would bet the majority of the fans at the game either don't know about it, won't remember to do, don't know what section wears what color, or doesn't care. The desired effect will be muted because of this. Showing up on Saturday with a brand new red or gray shirt on my seat would be an excellent PR move and would get the results the university is looking for. It really wouldn't cost the athletic department that much money since they would be buying the shirts in bulk and there would be no mark up. They could get it done for about $100,000.00 I would guess. Chicken shit money for tOSU.
will.not.work. most people wont even know about it. You could possibly stripe the student sections or something but the masses will not even know about this..
It would be kind of cool to see, but I wonder if it is being broadcast to the general public- I know it is on the OSU alumni association facebook site, but is it being mentioned on local radio or tv? And hey, the downside is that the other color being worn is scarlet, so the speckled scarlet and grey stands will look interesting also.
Went to the Illini game last year and they did orange and blue stripes. Acutally looked good so I hope they can pull this off in Shoe!
I say all Ohio U. green for the Michigan game...confuse the hell out of Hoke
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Ha, that would be hilarious. They could put a bobcat head on the field and everything. Never happen but it should.
haha if they put a Bobcat on the field -- that'd be pretty funny, as long as it didn't go after Brutus this time
Seems like a ploy to boost their lagging clothing sale from last year.........
Btw, any season ticket holder who was in attendance for the Miami game is fully aware as it was broadcast on the super duper mega jumbo torn several times....any season ticket holder who was not in attendance first Urbz first game should turn in their fan card,
