I don't see how any reasonable person could defend Paterno for what he did? What he did was even worse than what most of us thought. Consider his legacy in the trash can.
I think Paterno grew up in an era when this crap happened too often and people were afraid to talk about it. No excuse though. I can't stand Wetzel, but he's right.
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
One thing that I will never be able to accept: that Joe Paterno ever used email.
"Coach, this is a mouse. It has two buttons on it. Move the cursor over to that square... no, no, the other one... and click the button... no, click the left button. Okay now you can start typing..."
As I understand it, Curley worshipped Paterno. Wonder if he feels betrayed by the old despot now? Sounds like he was all set to do the right thing and Paterno talked him out of it.
I also wonder if Sandusky will come forward with info about his "retirement" once he's exhausted his appeals. That should illuminate quite a bit about how much a villain Paterno was in reality.
I'm not sure I get what you are trying to say. PSU is getting blasted over this so I don't know how you could possibly feel the media is favoring them. If I mis-interpreted what you meant then I apologize but it sounds like you are on the "media hates OSU" bandwagon.
Here's what I don't understand about Penn State fans...
They give Joe Paterno the benefit of the doubt when he doesn't deserve it. In 2001 he knew that Sandusky was a pedophile and even if he did do enough by telling his superiors and let them handle it... why did Paterno let Sandusky come around the football facilities after that happened? Why did he have Sandusky in the press-box for his career record win?
After the e-mails were released, they were defending Joe saying it could be anything. Come on, the e-mails were vague on purpose. They needed to communicate the message without revealing the details. This was intended. It isn't rocket science to figure out what they're talking about even though they don't spell it out.
The whole "if they were protecting the football program. they wouldn't have a problem reporting Sandusky" argument is BS. Sandusky got a lot of credit for Linebacker U - they were protecting the image of their success from the 90's and everything Sandusky was credited for.

Gotta love Wetzel for sure.

Why don't you like Wetzel, because he's a UM grad? The guy has done great investigative work.
Sad disgusting stuff. Like most of us have long suspected Joe Pa ruled all and let Sandusky off the hook in 2001. Absolutely disgraceful.
vacuuming sucks
Say it ain't so, Joe...
Extremely damning stuff.
notice how these calculating PSU slimeballs referred to Sandusky as "the subject" & Coach Paterno as "Joe" to evade open records e-mail searches

Yes, that is creepy as hell.

Creepy, calculating, disgusting, frightening, sad.

May they all rot in hell, especially Paterno, who as king of "Horror Valley", could have stopped it with a word.

For that reason alone, Paterno is going to avoid being labelled the guy pulling the strings behind this cover-up (which I'm 99.9% sure he was). NW Buckeye wrote about Paterno doing everything in person as one of his tactics for managing his "empire". No audit trail equals no investigation of wrong-doing.

Rest In Piss Joe Pedterno.
Still not as bad as not reporting kids selling memorabilia/autographs for tattoos or cash to the NCAA...per ESPN...
Dude, give it a rest. You sound like a jilted ex-gf.
The media agrees.
