"Who cares? Go Bucks." - Aaron Untch
Here's video for Winston:
kid's got a laser of an arm.
That one run was insane no one could take him down!
You think he would be scared away by sitting behind braxton? But, everyone is just a injury away guess i would rather have him than bauserman. lol
"We have always had the best damn band in the land, now we have the best damn team in the land"- Jim Tressel 1-03-03
Cam Newton and John Brantley committed to Florida when Tebow was a freshman. Urb's done it before.
Honestly I think we're set with Miller, and Jones. I'd rather see Meyer pick up some O-linemen and maybe a speedster or two.
Why not all of the above?
I don't think there is room in this class? We have what six spots left? I'd like to see us pick up Jordan Diamond, Kyle Dodson, Se'Von Pittman, Noah Spence, Stefon Diggs, and Joel Caleb.
That is my list exactly. What would OSU's recruiting class be with all those kids and the ones already committed? Crazy to think about.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
Not enough scholarships. Much rather see all available spots go to people that can make an immediate difference next year. IMO, also have the next QB in Cardale Jones--I think he got himself together mentally at Fort Union and is going to mature even more redshirting this next year. Jones is a great big athlete with a huge arm.
The way I see things shaping up as we get closer and closer to signing day is that we're not going to have enough spots as it is for the OL, WR, DL, DE guys that could eventually commit to OSU in this 2012 class. I'm sure Alex is going to give a detailed list of most (or all) of them tomorrow, and I feel pretty confident in saying that there won't be room for all of them.
Agreed. You bring in the best and sort them out.
I would definitely rather pick up some offensive linemen, but we don't even know if Cardale Jones will pan out on the field. I say if we have a shot at a 5* QB, we give it everything we've got regardless of who we have already. We had Pryor when Tajh Boyd was being recruited. Look how valuable that get would have been now.
These guys are all phenomenal, but I'd still rather have Kiel. He's a shifty and powerful runner much like Tebow (but definitely not Tebow.. let me just make that distinction... he'll never be as good of a runner as Tebow), but he throws like Brees or Manning (at the same age, the comparisons are fair). The dude is a sick passer. The fact that he happens to be a big and powerful runner is a nice complement. Tebow was a fullback who could throw decently. Kiel is a bona-fide passing QB who could play fullback decently. Urban needs to make a run at him.
I saw kiel play this year. Good strong arm, but he is super slow compared to Winston.
A lot of people are super slow compared to Winston lol.
But Kiel will benefit from the strength and conditioning program Urbz is bringing with him. He will get MUCH quicker. The knowledge level of the Urban's S&C coach is immensely higher than anything a high school athlete has gone through. I guess I just fall down on the side of wanting someone who can run the QB Power plays like Tebow, and that requires a bigger body. Kiel may not be as good of a runner as Tebow, but he has a stronger arm, wuicker release, and is way more accurate, so what he lacks in his running ability as compared to TT, he more than makes up for with his passing ability.
Winston was interested in the Buckeyes before Tressel resigned retired. Imagine the conversations that Winston, Diamond, Dunn, and Spence could have this weekend on their official visits.
This is a very good sign
You got to think one of them is saying "look guys if we all go here we will be unstoppable"
Exactly. Getting each guy on campus at all makes you excited about landing them. Getting them all on campus at the same time could prove to be huge
Jameis Winston could go basically anywhere else he wants and not have to sit behind another young QB. I think it'd be too hard of a sell to get Winston to red shirt and wait behind Braxton- love the buzz an OV from the #1 QB brings, but I don't think getting him to commit is realistic.
While I would rather land some stud lineman (especially OLine) UFM has a different strategy than Tressel, "go get as much talent as possible". When UFM sees talent, he goes after it. What if Tressel had actually gone after a big name QB before Brax after Pryor? Maybe we wouldn;t have had the mess with Bauserman. It's all about getting the best players you can, then getting your staff to create a plan that will best fit their talents. This is a whole different monster.
Plus, this is one of those moves that puts the South on notice. Ohio St is back, and Urban is not screwing around. He will recruit anyone, anywhere, anytime. No recruit is safe. I love it.
How I hope we finish (I think we'll end up with 5-6 spots left after attrition
1) Keep Dunn: I cannot stress this enough, this is huge. If he flips, it gives Hoke a win over UFM and keeps up the scUM momentum. This is a big thing for UFM to really lock down Ohio.
2) Flip Pittman: It tells the rest of the B1G that Ohio St isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
3) Noah Spence: The kid is a monster, and would finish what has to be a top 3 DE class.
4) Josh Diamond: We DESPERATELY need tackles, and this is the best pure tackle left on our board. Plus it will be a recruit we pulled out from under scUM's nose.
5) Joel Caleb/Stephon Diggs: I think Caleb is more likely, but either is great. This is that speed/Percy Harvin type player that UFM is looking for. Elite athletes, plus Caleb keeps that VA pipeline we've started to establish while Diggs gets us into MD, a place that we should be recruiting more anyway.
6) Jamal Marcus: I think we projects well as a rush linebacker, something we haven't had in a while, a true LEO. Underrated and just instinctive. His film reminds me of Rolle in how he finds the ball no matter what
7) Flip Dodson: This is more of a wish, but I think it is possible if we get him on campus. He is a tackle prospect that is commited to Wisconsin, I don't think much more needs to be said. Another win for UFM in the state and at a position of great need.
A couple of other names I wouldn't mind seeing here:
8) Davonte Neal: a stretch the field wide out that we don't see in this class so far.
9) Alex Kozan: he projects as a gaurd, but is a solid player (being recruited by LSU) and seems like a quality guy... nothing wrong with depth
10) Dante Fowler: very soft DE FSU verbal... another one of those flips that really sends a message. He would be the guy I really go after is Spence gets away
Cause I couldn't go for three
What if Tressel had actually gone after a big name QB before Brax after Pryor? Maybe we wouldn;t have had the mess with Bauserman.
Uh, he did. Taj Boyd ring a bell?
We did try to recruit Boyd, and I think we were one of his finalists. He isn't dumb though, we were pretty much sold on Pryor at that point. He wouldn't have wanted to be a backup for 2-3 years when he was a considered the top QB in the country.
Tajh Boyd told OSU media people the night before his announcement he was going to Ohio State...when I wrote for Dottingthei.com I had a whole story written up about it...had to wash the whole thing when i found out he also told Oregon media people he was going to the Ducks and Clemson media people he was going to the Tigers...wanted attention on his announcement....obviously worked out for Clemson
Nick Montana as well.
