Think the big key will be how well the defense comes together, offense can score with anyone imo. If the new punter is the real deal, that will help the defense immensely.

You're right, it'll hinge on the defense coming together, and I think they do. Just a matter of when, imo.

Fair shake of the Buckeyes....number 2 and a Heisman for Brax. Glossed over the frosh talent aside from AWash, we all know several of the young 'uns will be making their presence felt this year.

Likely will see more previews in this vein....talented, young team head and shoulders above the rest of the conference.

I used to buy this publication, but half of it is Phil Steele telling you how good he has been at putting lists of 10 teams together.  His Forecast is more of a recap of the past 15 years for some reason.  Good that he finally says that he has Ohio State in the national title game, though.  Yay Buckeyes.

Phil Steele is doing much better than these guys...

just another psycho, irrational, delusional Ohio St fan

Lots of interesting info, but man is that thing an eyesore.

It is kinda amazing the process he goes through to put these together, if you have ever heard him speak on the subject.

I sure do hope so Phil

Yeah, printed and slipped into the bathroom at work.
Nothing really that we didn't already know thanks to 11W.

We talkin' bout practice?!  Not the game I love...the game I die for.  Practice?!

This article is more about seeing how many words he can abbreviate than doing a hard analysis.

I know he knows far more about these things than I do, but I have trouble taking it seriously given all the abbreviations and exclamation points ("OSt was actually -45.5 ypg in B10 play!!").  It's like we're getting texts about the Buckeyes from a 15 year-old.

I have no argument for the multiple exclamation points, or any punctuation for that matter.

However, you have to appreciate and respect that Phil Steele is one man doing a review for every FBS team there is, obviously some more in depth than others.

I think that is where you get a lot of abbreviations, because from my understanding, he is actually the content, editing, and production of his preview with little to no outside assistance.
and I got you a +1 for the negative nancy out there...

I don't get his depth chart though. Some of his picks in the 2 deep and beyond are interesting.
under slot wr, Chris Fields starts. but after him and Hall, he has #49 Craig Cataline. Now I can see that if the incoming freshmen were not included, and really there is no depth at slot without the freshmen. but then he includes freshmen at other positions. So who is Craig Cataline? Why is he projected after them with Wilson, Marshall and Clark coming in who I would assume are much more talented than the less heralded Cataline? Just seems odd.
he has Cam Burrows and then Eli Apple after Doran Grant. I would have assumed Apple would be the backup with his bigger recruiting and being great during spring practices and the spring game. I have no issues either way, just would have assumed he would have Apple making more of a push. He did put Gareon Conley in the depth behind Roby. Its just so nice to have 3 corners that talented.
He also has Joey Bosa at DT. Doesn't Bosa want to play DE? He is big enough to be a monster at tackle, perhaps a great 2 or 3 technique end kind of like a 3-4 end but not quite. That way Adolphus can be more flexible as an end/outside rush linebacker (LEO right?). And btw, he listed Adolphus at 292 lbs. That is HUGE for a DE! I'm not sure how legit that number is but the kid is just going to be a monster.
anyways, interesting observations about the depth chart he has. Perhaps he was just concentrating on the starters and just threw in the names for backups. I just find it funny to think enough to put Donovan Munger on there but not Dontre Wilson. That to me is a pretty big brain fart!

FYI: Cataline is OSU's fullback and is listed as FB, albeit in a strange spot with the slot receivers. It's similar to what Steele did with Bryce Haynes the longsnapper, who he has listed as LS grouped with the Center (C) position.
I don't think you should read too much into Steele's projections on starters and whatnot. The guy writes these for every team and so he's bound not to know each team as well as their fans do. The guy does get a lot of his forecasts correct for teams, but a lot of the other stuff, while interesting, is 'educated guess' material, historical analysis, and patting himself on the back.

I know his predictions are not going to mean anything but it still caught me odd that he would make that list with what is pretty general knowledge, at least with Apple and so what.
A fullback, didn't know we had one. lol I see it now. Very odd indeed.

This is the positive stuff I enjoy to see on 11w. To many haters hating on us. This was a breath of fresh air. I do hope that xbrax gets the heisman , and the crystal this year.
