I could care less about most things Penn State, but they are damn lucky to have Bill O'Brien at the helm. He's done an absolutely fantastic job holding that program together.

I am not very smart, but I recognize that I am not very smart.

granted he has the program being held together with popsicle sticks, bubble gum, and duct tape.

he better hide those before Scott Paterno's stomach sees them

I feel like most of the guys that wanted to/could have transferred --- have already transferred.
I expected a mass exodus last year, but not much this year.

Yeah, I'm amazed at how few people left, and good of a job O'Brien has done with recruiting.  PSU couldn't ask for much more, considering the circumstances.  Looks like my dreams of PSU falling into oblivion for the next 10 years may not come true.  They'll struggle, but will probably stay somewhat competitive.

I never thought that many would transfer. Where they are going to be hurt is the lack of incoming depth year after year. Last year was the easiest year for them. It is going to get worse each year as the lack of depth takes its toll.

They're lucky to even be fielding a team, I say.
Thought they should have sat it out for a few seasons.
Institutional/program/football scandal, in which the decade-plus long cover-up helped the program sustain & elevate it's success.

But you don't know all the facts! We want the truth!*
If there is a group of people that better embodies the "I reject your reality and substitute my own" than Penn Staters, I haven't seen em...

Do I come off as arrogant? Shame on me, I was hoping it would more obvious.

It continues to amaze me that they are recruiting as well as they are with all that they are dealing with at the moment. It just goes to show that behind OSU and UM, PSU is probably the third best brand in the BIG. Nebraska or Wisconsin could be argued but I think PSU probably just barely beats them out.

Just goes to show the power of the PSU brand and Bill Obrien's ability to convince recruits to play in a pro system.

I, too, have been amazed by how well he has been able to recruit and keep that program together. The only threat to PSU that seems eminent is how attractive O'B seems to be to the NFL. If PSU can keep him (i.e. the Jets job may be open next year, for starters), he is going to start building a machine over there as the sanctions sunset.
I think it's good for the B1G when PSU is, not just good, but a powerhouse. That's why they were brought in in 1993.
Someone else may have more in the way of the likelihood that he'll stay at PSU and not go to the NFL, but I just don't see him staying there, especially if PSU, once again, over-achieves* this season.
* to the degree that a B1G team can lose to Ohio U. and still over-achieve.

The dude has done an amazing job, but what is he going to say, "i expect more kids to jump ship"?
