Here's a recent highlight reel from Ohio State class of 2014 commitment Keita Bates-Diop. A 6-foot-7 forward from Normal, Illinois, Bates-Diop committed to Ohio State way back in November of 2012 over offers from Indiana, Michigan and others and is considered one of the nation's top 20 players in his class.

Did Turner ever have a jumper that looked as good as Diop's?

im thinking hes more of an evan turner and laquinton ross mix. ross's mixtape coming out of HS looked a lot like this. he is smoother than Q, but a better athlete than turner. not sure from this video if hes much of a shooter, appears he is average.

KBD doesn't have near the long range shot of Q Ross.  watch Q's tape from highschool; kid can nail it from deep.  KBD looks to be a stronger athlete, though.  he needs to tame that left elbow on his jumper, which might be the most Turner-reminiscent aspect of his game.

Thats pretty well exactly what I just said. Mix of Q and turner.

I thought the music was more smooth, but after watching this, I can't say I'm terribly impressed. IMHO, his competition in the video looks especially weak & he's not really exhibiting much athleticism, though his game looks like it's solid all around.
I need to see him in the Jordan Classic or McDonald's AA games to see how he stacks up to kids his size & if he has that killer instinct or not. We need some kids with fire & flare, not the same old, same old. He doesn't really look like he's dominating like some of these other kids do, even with weak comp.

Agreed. Smooth, not a lot of anger. That orange t-shirt was also mesmerizing

I highly disagree. I think Keita looks a lot more like Kevin Durant. Long lanky body, really long arms (he has to have at least a 7' reach) and the ability to score from anywhere. I see the possibility that he grows another inch or 2 and gets closer to 6'9''. He is just so long and smooth as a scorer. I always thought Turner was closer to a Ginobili type of offensive player. Erratic and wild but somehow can find a way to score no matter how out of control he is. He always played best when he was loose and free to create. I think Turner would do wonders if he went out west to San Antonio and played under Greg Popovich. He would get the most out of Turner.
but Keita is so much more like Durant! EDIT: Rail thin too! Just like Durant.

I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!

The comparison is nice and all, but hoping KBD makes a name (no pun intended) for himself at OSU.

Looks good; did we get his autograph during the early signing period or just a verbal?

He's 2014, so the earliest he can sign is this coming fall.

The dude who makes all these highlight tapes for iowa elites is from my HS. Weird. KBD looks good though.

I agree that I would like to see him against better competition, maybe a matchup against another stud forward at an AAU tourney or something. But just from this video I like that he is almost always the guy sprinting down the court to get the easy basket. Get 'em where you can, KBD. Can't wait for you to get here

2014 is going to be a fun year. Yes, Craft will be gone and we will all be searching for a new heart throb to fill the cavernous void in our hearts, but I am excited to watch some new players come through the program. It's the same way I felt after the 2007-08 football season. The only thing I was worried about is that there would be no left handed players on the team. Thank god Tate is left handed. I wouldn't know what team I was watching.
But seriously, in that year we will have Tate, Bates-Diop, Loving and Williams. at LEAST. Thad can recruit, it's just that a lot of people (myself included) use that 06 class as the standard. And that might not be fair

Those seem more like tentacles than arms. What an asset.
