Texans Draft Posey with 68th Pick

By Ramzy Nasrallah on April 27, 2012 at 9:40p

Despite only playing three games as a senior due to two five-game suspensions, DeVier Posey was drafted tonight with the fifth pick in the third round by the Houston Texans. (In related news, Alex is absolutely giddy).

Posey's draft status doesn't appear to have been too negatively affected by his challenges with Tatgate or the Bobby DiGeronimo scandal that followed. He arrived at Ohio State and played right away, finishing with 136 catches for almost 2,000 yards despite that abbreviated senior season (in which he almost took the team lead for season receptions in just those three games).

His 18 career touchdowns rank seventh all-time in school history, and his game-sealing touchdown catch in the 2010 Rose Bowl will always be a treasured moment in Buckeye football history.

The Texans definitely need another field stretcher, so Posey enters the NFL with a nice opportunity to flourish in a system that can exploit his abilities.

Was hoping he'd fall to the Browns.  Not many big time receivers left for the Browns to pick up anymore... if any.

Maybe not big time, but McNutt and Toon are still around.

Toon will be a steal for a team.

Posey could be a really good #3 or even 2 in a few years if he Works hard.

Agreed about Posey.  I was hoping he would fall to the Bengals.

I'm wondering who the next Buckeye to be drafted will be --- I'd have to say Mike Brewster in the 4th round.

I was hoping the Lions might have been smart enough to grab one of the top Buckeyes, but they look to be in their own little world..drafting nobodies.

Yes there are two Buckeyes in Ann arbor on this site!

You gotta like their first round pick.  Reiff kind of fell into their laps, but thats a great pick up.

Was really hoping Denver would grab Posey with one of their mid-round picks. Would have loved to see Peyton throwing TD's to #8.
