The Trill of It All.At worst, the Buckeyes clinched a tie for 1st in the final conference standings after a 73-57 (again) beatdown of the Fightin' Illini tonight in the Schott.
The title is the 3rd in six years under Thad Matta. Feel that.
Jon Diebler led the attack with 21 points (7/14 3's) while the WB added 17 points behind a 16/12 dub-dub from ET and a 15 point night from David Lighty.
The win clinches Bad @ss Status for the time being as this team accomplished significantly more than the fair-weather hoops fan could fathom.
We're not those fans so the hoopsters simply lived up to our expectations with the caveat of Titus turning into an internet sensation and ET becoming the deserving national star that he's become.
I might recap it later but for now, I know we simply want to celebrate!

fight Illini... were using that term pretty loosely these days.
don't forget this is now OSU's third "triple crown" in just 4 years, while no other big ten school (as far as i know) has managed the feat even once! These truly are the glory days of OSU athletics!
Co-signed.
I like the ring of that -- Triple Crown.
I'm not ready to celebrate yet...
LAYUPS . . . I'm hammered
We're truly blessed to be Buckeyes...and not just because we kick ass, but because we've got players who make us proud. They ought to retire Titus' number. Hang 1Tril from the rafters.
Final four is in INDY right. Home court in the final four would be sweet
Would you rather have a one sede and go out west or a two or three sede and play closer to home? I would take the 3 and play where buckeye nation could travel and make a difference. Also I would love to play Duke, the bucks match up against them pretty well.
That was the most fun I've had at one of our home games. I haven't had time to watch the DVR'd version, but did the crowd sound good? It sounded much better than it had in the past from where I was sitting.
And how does Hightower still have a job?
Despite Turner's poor performance, Buckeyes win their 3rd championship in 6 years. Matta has turned this program into a contender every year. Two more championships to grab!
Even without Turner, this team will contend next year with the help of a stellar incoming class - please stick around, Buford!
By the way, Turner's poor performance was 16 points (44% from the floor), 12 boards, 5 assists and 1 steal. With only one trip to the charity stripe, I have a suspicion that there were some missed calls, preventing Evan from getting to the 20 point mark (Hightower is rediculous). Pretty good "poor" performance. ET is the POY.
Sorry... triple? I only follow football and men's basketball. What am I missing?
Women's Bball Dean.
i was following on espn 360, and even when i was away from the computer working on stuff i could tell when we had big plays or when the refs screwed up. definitely a lot better than most buckeye games i've seen thus far. could certainly be better, but from what i've seen recently, it was great
ahh thanks. Now I feel like a schmuck
I live in Florida, and I get an unimaginable amount of grief from Gator fans about how lovely teir teams are. So with this most recent Triple Corwn in the bag, I did a statistical anaylsis of how the OSU and UF teams have done over the last five years. Here it is:
OSU men’s basketball 2005-10: 132-41, .763
UF men’s basketball 2005-10: 137-44, .757 (not counting their forthcoming whipping by Kentucky)
OSU women’s basketball 2005-10: 135-25, .844
UF women’s basketball 2005-10: 87-68, .644
OSU football 2005-10: 54-10, .844
UF football 2005-2010: 57-10, .851
Overall records: OSU 321-76, winning percentage .809
UF 281-122, winning percentage .697
UF football vs. Michigan: 0-1
OSU football v. Michigan: 5-0
Buckeyes are EVERYWHEREEEEEEEE
Only thing better would be Connecticut had National Champs in Men's & Women's basketball same year. Florida had National Champs Football & Basketball same year. That's a real possibility for next year !!!!
While I like your statistical breakdown, you omit one fatal flaw (and it pains me to say it) on UF: National Titles
That never happened. That year never happened!
UF vs. OSU: 1-0 That's a pretty important one.
Sorry, we've got nothing to talk to them about until we beat them. Wy do we have to keep bringing up Florida?
Now we need Bob Todd's diamond boys to bring home a title and pull in the "real big 3" - football, basketball, and baseball titles in the same year. I'm certain that has never been done before.
You're right, nobody has won titles in football, basketball, and baseball in the same year.
But Ohio State is one of only 4 schools to have won at least one football championship, the ncaa basketball tournament, as well as the College World Series.
The other 3 schools are Stanford, Cal, and unfortunately Michigan.
actually at least 3-0. lost to them twice in men's bball as well
how dare you not include women's basketball in a list of major sports!!! FOR SHAME!!!
Well if you want to include a women's basketball national championship, the list gets whittled down to just Stanford.
i was joking
I couldn't tell if you were serious or not. Some people take the women's hoop seriously. You know the whole "Ohio State won the triple crown of Big Ten titles 3 times in the last 4 years", and all.
Interesting set of rivals...
lol...that's hilarious. I know you were being facetious for sanity's sake.
