Buckeye fans have been waiting for a while for Cleveland Glenville defensive back Christian Bryant to make his college decision. Today, at a 3 PM press conference at his school, Bryant announced that he will play for Ohio State in the fall.
Bryant narrowed down his offer list to his two favorites in Ohio State and North Carolina recently, but also held offers from Michigan State, Tennessee, Virginia, Stanford, WVU, and other top programs in the nation. He becomes the 17th member (18th with Carlos Hyde) of OSU's recruiting class and projects as a safety after playing all over the secondary on defense and at a multitude of positions on the offensive side of the ball during his career as a Tarblooder.
Bryant is the 3rd defensive back to commit to the Bucks, although Verlon Reed will most likely switch from quarterback to safety shortly after he enrolls at school. This was a big get for the Buckeyes as it extended the Glenville pipeline and added an extremely talented player to the secondary that lost two safeties to graduation this year in Kurt Colemand and Anderson Russell.

Rivals take on Bryant:

Bucknuts is a sham & a cash grubbing whore which makes Bill Kurlic the ShamHo.
In my humble opinion, this site is more informative and with none of the capitalist tool groveling.
Glad to see this. Seantrel and Moses would be nice.
Hicks too
Yeah, Hicks is a must IMO, since Etienne Sabino doesn't seem to be panning out.
i think the sooner we realize hicks isn't going to come to cbus the sooner we can move on. i love the kid and really hope something crazy happens and he becomes a buckeye but its just not gonna happen.
I wouldn't give up on Sabino just yet.

Don't tell Verlon Reed that; he thinks he can make it at QB, and after seeing the kid play this year, so do I.
this is the first I've heard about him projecting as a safety at OSU. If you have more info on that it would be appreciated...all the scouting info sounds like they think he can be a solid cover corner...I think he'd need to add some weight to play safety in Columbus...like 20 pounds.
how says
Sabino is going to be just fine. Just because he hasn't done much yet is no reason to count him out. Lots of guys don't get a shot til their Junior year and end up being pretty darn good. Not to mention, we didn't have 3 slouches out there playing this year.
I don't think it's a no brainer that Hicks is going elsewhere. Scouts.com 2 recruiting analysts have him coming to Ohio State in their projections. Also read an article saying Buckeyes were 3rd on his list but for some reason the guy thinks he may very well end up a Buckeye when it's all said and done.
There was a short time when Floyd seemed like a done deal, tide could turrn the other way this time.
I could see Bryant playing as a freshman. His football IQ is right up there with his physical ability. He will be a star.
Wonder if this could change Latwan's mind?
Let's not forget how big (or small) Donte Whitner was coming in from the Glenville pipeline. He didn't do too bad in the scarlet & gray #9 uni.

+1
nice... see what else happens come feb 3rd.. also ? about hines any more info on if he is now leaving or what?
I don't think he is, i've payed extra attention to his twitter acc..but mabye I'm wrong.
Kurt Coleman was a corner too of the same variety....duane long and many other have been saying safety for a while and I seem to agree he grows into that role
Hines is not leaving...we're 99.9% certain
ok thanks lol ...just was on this bloggy thing yesterday and that was a big rumor and a large gaping grand canyon like crack in the secondary if he did leave for the riches of the 6th round. cant wait to see what tOSU ends up with feb 3...
**We got a hold of Christian and should have something up either today or thursday hopefully
It's too late to declare at this point anyway, and a transfer would be HIGHLY unlikely.
lol @ ShamHo
Sabino not working out? Sounds like the light is coming on to me: http://bucknuts.com/index.php/...
FTA: First, was Etienne Sabino, who put on a show in practices. He told teammates that he spent way too much time in his first year chasing girls instead of chasing running backs and he now realizes what it takes to be great. He wants Austin Spitler?s spot and has been told to be ready to play there or in Thad Gibson?s role.
Nice job guys, looking forward to reading the scoop
I've thought about Sabino in Gibson's role; he is only a few pounds lighter than gibson was, and you could shuffle Nate over to strongside and put Cam and Dex in the middle. That way you could get more linebacker talent on the field, putting either Klein or Bell in the SAM spot. I'm not sure that Solomon Thomas and or Keith Wells would be a better LEO than Sabino, who plays with ferocity.
Hmm, never thought of Sabino as a LEO, but that could be a huge mismatch or the other team's offense if Sabino is strong enough off the line. Don't get me wrong guys, I want Sabino to succeed. He was one of my favorite guys coming in. I just hope he goes behind a special teams human missile.
*mismatch FOR the other team's
Sabino and Moeller should make for an excellent competition at OLB
Ya but Teddy Ginn said on twitter!....just playin its just funny how much stock people put into social networking sites. this world is so f'd up.
keep on dreamin' Charlie. We never know until the signing day. The arrow could be
pointing to Columbus instead of Texas or Florida.
Well according to his MySpace account, he's happy where he is.
Just read that OSU and USC are in the running for Latwaan Anderson again. Maybe Bryant can do some campaigning for him.
+2 times 100
did anyone see on rivals Latwan would be interested in OSU if they came back to him and re-offered...anyone have any word on this.
http://footballrecruiting.riva...
said he would look hard at OSU if they still have a spot for him..who knows
Yeah, I've heard that, but I know a lot of Buckeyes don't want the dude for whatever reason. He also has a visit to USC which he calls his dream school. Pitty WVU fans.. thinking they have the guy.
Anyone see the Sporting News preseason top 10? They rank Oregon at #2, ahead of Ohio State at #3. Odd, to say the least. Especially with Masoli's return uncertain. They also predict Ohio State will lose in the national title game. There's a nice quote from Troy Smith, too.

And the hate lives on........f#%k 'em.
That's weird. The Masoli situation is far from over.
For what it's worth... Bruce Feldman of ESPN is predicting Henderson and Hicks to the Buckeyes
