The Illibuck is ours once more.

The Buckeyes successfully defended the Illibuck and keep it in its rightful home in Columbus after a 28-3 win on the road in Champaign. There are two ways of looking at Ohio State’s somewhat sluggish 25-point road win and Johnny and I cover both the optimistic and pessimistic sides on this week’s Dubcast.

As the football regular season winds through its final weeks (how sad is that phrase?), the games become so much more important for teams with back-loaded schedules like Ohio State. The Buckeyes will be tested down the stretch with back-to-back games against teams from the mitten state. Luckily for us, we’ve got Finkes on Football (starring friend of the Dubcast, Matt Finkes) to help us look ahead to Sparty and put to bed the Buckeyes’ 10th win of the season at Illinois.

Oh yeah, and it’s basketball season all of a sudden. How did that happen? Ohio State opened its season with a 22-point home win over Mount St. Mary’s on Sunday. We talk a little bit about Thad Matta’s young squad, and bring in former Buckeye great Scoonie Penn to help us figure out what to expect from the Basketbucks this year. Who will lead them? Who’s got a high ceiling? What will Thad do with his bench? Scoonie’s got some ideas and we’re happy to have his insight.

And of course we’ve answered your Ask Us Anything questions. (Note: We recorded a day early this week, so if we didn’t get to your question, we’ll have you covered next week. Also, you should never procrastinate.) As always, you can tap into our vast reserves of knowledge on Twitter or via email.

Here’s how the show unfolded:

0:26- A road win by four scores (with one earned touchdown not counted because of reasons) is nothing to sneeze at. We look back at Illinois, lament Indiana not finishing the job, and touch on the hoops team’s opener.

18:06- Ask Us Anything gets you the answers about why art can be ugly, favorite childhood toys, why you shouldn’t drink Michigan beer and more.

28:25- Matt joins in for Finkes on Football and it’s really time to look at Michigan State because things are going to get a bit more difficult for the remainder of the season.

41:40- Scoonie Penn brings his entertaining and thoughtful personality back to the Dubcast and has a lot of strong takes on Thad Matta, the young Buckeyes, the B1G season and John Calipari.

59:50- You can pick any Big Ten team besides Ohio State to forever torment Michigan. Who ya got?

And that’ll do it for another episode. We're so glad you could attend. We’ll be back on Hate Week to prepare you for The Game.
