Skull Session: Buckeyes Face Insane Second-Half Schedule, Quinn Ewers Was Set to Play Against Maryland, and Michigan State's Receivers Came Up Flat

We've got a football in today's skull session.

Turns out, 2 is a blessed number in Columbus.

Next do 7 and 5.

Word of the Day: Jejune.

MURDERERS ROW. The good news is, Ohio State's halfway through the regular season and the Buckeyes are in great shape in the College Football Playoff race.

The bad news is, uh...

To be clear, the odds are strongly against Purdue staying in the top-25 until they play Ohio State in four weeks, but that's not really the point!

The reality is, Ohio State's going to have to go undefeated in the Big Ten in order to make the College Football Playoff. And if that's what ends up happening, the Buckeyes will have earned every bit of it.

Ohio State's looked like an absolutely death machine these past few weeks, but it's been relatively easy to dismiss given the competition. But do that against multiple top-10 teams and you'll absolutely have some heads turning.

MULLET TIME? The way Ryan Day talked about Quinn Ewers a few weeks ago, I had pretty much written off any hope of seeing him on the field for the Buckeyes in 2021.

Not so fast, my friend!

Turns out, The Mullet was set to make his Ohio State debut during last week's execution of Maryland, but then Craig Young had to get all selfish and snag a pick-six.

Oh well. I guess he'll just have to play in garbage time against Penn State, Michigan State or Michigan, instead.

OOPS! Either the Detroit Free Press picked an extremely unlucky week to run this rage-bait headline, or the Michigan State passing game has actually been secretly bad this entire time.

There's no way they wrote that headline with a straight face to begin with, but it aged like milk sitting in the sun on a summer day.

Oops!

To be clear, 141 yards and a touchdown is a stat line I would expect from *one* of Ohio State's receivers. And 15 of those yards came on a trick play to your quarterback (who, by the way, made the best catch of the day).

I don't know, maybe Indiana just has an incredible pass defense and there was really nothing the Spartans could do.

*Checks Indiana vs. Western Kentucky box score*

Nope! That ain't it either.

REST UP, DE'VAN BOGARD. Buckeye Nation's still mourning the loss of one of its own, but let's not forget the other communities De'Van Bogard reached, too.

Prayers up for that entire Elyria Athletics community.

SONG OF THE DAY. "Lunch for the Sky" by Socratic.

NOT STICKING TO SPORTS. Blood, lies, and drug trials gone bad... Pubs are using anti-cocaine spray in their bathrooms... A student took a pack of marijuana edibles from a prize box in a classroom... How a teenage hacker lost himself online... 393 Powell Street was a peaceful home until residents started dying in brutal, mysterious ways... China tested an insane orbital bombardment system...
