It was Sunday Funday on the wrestling recruiting trail: Tom Ryan's program added its second 2018 pledge in 24 hours when New Jersey native Quinn Kinner announced he would attend Ohio State instead of joining his older brother at NC State. Kinner had picked the Wolfpack over the Buckeyes in August, but called the chance to wrestle at Ohio State "a dream" he couldn't pass up.

Kinner went 43-2 in his junior season at Kingsway High School on his way to a New Jersey high school state title at 132 pounds. He projects to wrestle at 141/149 for the Buckeyes. As noted earlier in the day, the class is littered with Top 50 commitments, with Kinner clocking in at #49 on FloWrestling's Class of 2018 Big Board. He was ranked No. 7 at 132 pounds over the summer, and is likely to wrestle at 138 for his senior campaign.

Ohio State head coach Tom Ryan almost landed Kinner over the summer, but the pull of wrestling in the same room as older brother Trace tipped the scales in NC State's favor. Even so, Ryan never gave up, continuing to recruit Kinner even after he pledged to the Wolfpack. In the end, the relationship between the Coach and the Kinner family made all the difference.

"My parents loved Tom Ryan," Kinner told NJ.com in early August. He considered the Naval Academy, Oklahoma and Rutgers among his Top 5, but ultimately the decision was between the Buckeyes and NC State.

With Sammy Sasso expected to wrestle at either 149 or 157 pounds, and Kinner at 141/149, Tom Ryan has added some firepower and depth to the middle of his roster for years ahead. Kinner's announcement is likely to be the last major pledge of the 2018 class, rounding out a pretty stellar bunch.
