Jaxon Smith-Njigba is officially the NFL’s top receiver for the 2025 season.
The former Ohio State wide receiver won the NFL’s receiving crown for the season as he led the league with 1,793 yards, 78 more yards than Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua, who finished second in the NFL’s receiving race.
While there’s still one more regular-season game to be played Sunday night between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, no receiver from either of those teams is within 720 yards of Smith-Njigba, securing the receiving title for the former Buckeye star, who also holds Ohio State’s single-season records for receiving yards and receptions.
Smith-Njigba’s 1,793 receiving yards are the eighth-most in a single season in NFL history. He surpassed Michael Thomas, the NFL’s leading receiver in 2019 with 1,725 yards, for the most receiving yards in an NFL season by a former Ohio State player.
A sure-fire All-Pro and the favorite to win the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year Award, Smith-Njigba led the Seattle Seahawks to a 14-3 record and the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs with his consistently spectacular play all season.
Smith-Njigba averaged 105.5 receiving yards per game as he caught 119 passes (fourth-most in the NFL this year) with 10 receiving touchdowns (tied for sixth-most in the league). He had 27 receptions of 20-plus yards during the regular season and topped 100 receiving yards in nine of Seattle’s 17 games.
He’ll now have the opportunity to play in the NFL playoffs for the first time. The Seahawks will have a first-round bye before hosting a divisional-round game on Jan. 17 or 18.
