Ohio State is the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff.

The CFP committee selected Ohio State as the No. 2 seed behind undefeated Indiana, which just beat the Buckeyes 13-10 in the Big Ten Championship Game. Ohio State will face the winner of Texas A&M vs. Miami in the Cotton Bowl.

Indiana, Ohio State, Georgia and Texas Tech are the top-four seeds and earn first-round byes. Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Oklahoma will host first-round games as the four highest-ranked at-large teams. Alabama, Miami, Tulane and James Madison round out the 12-team field.

The Buckeyes will make their seventh CFP appearance in 2025 and their fifth under Ryan Day. The seventh-year head coach has a 5-3 playoff record and has led Ohio State to two national championship games, losing to Alabama in 2020 and beating Notre Dame in 2024 to cap off the greatest run in college football history.

Ohio State is 4-0 all-time against Texas A&M with wins in 1963, 1970, 1987 and 1999. The Buckeyes are 3-2 against Miami with victories in 1977, 2002 (BCS National Championship Game) and 2010* (vacated) and losses in 1999 and 2011. They are 3-1 in the Cotton Bowl, including the win over Texas A&M in 1987 and last year's 28-14 victory against Texas last season.
