Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate both made the trip to Michigan with the Buckeyes.

While Ryan Day hasn’t confirmed that the Buckeyes’ star wide receivers will be back on the field after missing last week’s game against Rutgers, their presence as members of Ohio State’s 74-man travel roster suggests that both are in line to return from the injuries they’ve been battling over the last few weeks.

"They are on the trip and looking for a good night of preparation," Day said with a smile. "Just flew in. It was a great flight, and looking forward to having great preparation tonight, and we'll continue to do that all the way to kickoff, but they're here and excited."

Tate has missed Ohio State’s last three games while Smith was out last week after leaving the UCLA game early with an injury that had him listed as questionable entering that game. But all indications this week have been that both wide receivers are trending toward returning, as Smith told the Downs 2 Business podcast on Monday that he “should be good to go” for this week’s game while Day said “everybody was out there” when asked about their status following Wednesday’s practice.

Ohio State’s official injury report, designating which players are out or questionable for the game, will be released at 10 a.m. Saturday.
