While Ohio State has won eight straight meetings with Penn State, each matchup between the Big Ten powerhouses has been decided by two scores or fewer since the Buckeyes’ 38-10 win in 2015. The Nittany Lions’ 2025 season suggests a blowout could be on the table, though that’s not the expectation Ryan Day has been setting this week.
Despite entering the year with national championship-or-bust expectations, Penn State has lost four straight games, fired James Franklin, and seen quarterback Drew Allar suffer a season-ending injury. Still, none of that is causing the Buckeyes to take them lightly.
“We know that this is one of the top five, 10 teams in the country,” Day said of Penn State on Tuesday. “I don't think there's many teams in the country that have more talent than Penn State has. And I think people recognized that early in the season. Sure, it hasn't gone the way they've wanted it to, but that doesn't change that they still have really good players. And when you looked at this game a few months ago, it was an absolute matchup game. That has not changed.”

Whacky End of Half Sequence Cuts Into Ohio State Lead
Ohio State held a 17-7 lead with the ball with two minutes to go in the first half, but came out with a running play to CJ Donaldson. Despite appearing like his forward progress had well been stopped on a 1-yard run, officials never blew the play dead and the ball was stripped from Donaldson, setting Penn State up at the Buckeyes' 13-yard line.
