16,623,000 people watched Ohio State‘s 14-7 win over Texas, breaking the record for the most viewers ever for a Week 1 college football game, according to FOX.
The ending of the game between the Buckeyes and the Longhorns, in which Texas had a chance to tie the game before a game-sealing fourth-down stop by Caleb Downs and the Ohio State defense, drew 18,569,000 viewers.

The game was the most-watched regular-season college football game since Ohio State’s 2023 loss to Michigan. The only other game televised by FOX to draw more viewers was Ohio State’s 2022 loss to Michigan.
