Eli Apple is joining the seventh team of his NFL career.

After spending last season with the Los Angeles Chargers, Apple landed an opportunity to continue his NFL tenure on Sunday as the San Francisco 49ers signed him to a one-year deal.

The former Ohio State cornerback is entering his ninth NFL season. He played in just four regular-season games last year, recording two tackles and one pass breakup.

The No. 10 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Apple started his career with the New York Giants before they traded him to the New Orleans Saints in 2018. He joined the Carolina Panthers in 2020, spending one year there before a two-year run with the Cincinnati Bengals. He then spent one year with the Miami Dolphins before joining the Chargers last season.

Apple joins two other former Ohio State players, Nick Bosa and Luke Farrell, on the 49ers’ roster.
