Ohio State vs. Texas appears likely to be a noon game.
FOX announced Monday that it will televise Ohio State’s season-opening clash against Texas at Ohio Stadium as well as the Buckeyes’ rivalry game against Michigan, indicating that both games will air in the Big Noon time slot that’s become all too familiar to Buckeye fans for marquee regular-season games.

An article posted by FOX Sports announcing the games originally stated the Ohio State vs. Texas game would be a Big Noon game, though that line was later removed from the article. FOX has not specified a kickoff time for Ohio State vs. Michigan, but The Game has traditionally kicked off at noon.
Ohio State vs. Texas is the kind of game that likely would have been an obvious primetime game before FOX became the Big Ten’s primary television partner. With FOX holding the first two picks in the TV networks’ draft of Big Ten games, however, the network unsurprisingly chose to use one of those picks on the Cotton Bowl rematch, which could also be a No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup, while using the other on The Game.

It will be FOX’s ninth straight year airing The Game, excluding the 2020 game that was canceled due to COVID-19.
Assuming both games are at noon, Monday’s announcement continues a trend of Ohio State’s biggest regular-season games – particularly its home games – often being played at noon despite a strong desire from many Buckeye fans for OSU to have more night games. The Texas game will be Ohio State’s seventh straight regular-season noon game dating back to last season, as each of the Buckeyes’ final six regular-season games of 2024 kicked off at noon.
Ohio State’s hopes of having a marquee home game at night this year likely now depend on whether NBC picks up the Buckeyes’ Nov. 1 game against Penn State, which is a more likely possibility than it’s been in past years with FOX picking up Ohio State/Texas.
TV networks and kickoff times for the rest of Ohio State’s 2025 games outside of the Texas and Michigan games have not yet been announced.
