C.J. Stroud is headed to the Pro Bowl Games.

After a stellar rookie season with the Houston Texans, Stroud has been named a Pro Bowl alternate in 2023-24. He will compete alongside AFC quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins) and Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens) in Orlando as a replacement for Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs), who will face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, Stroud completed 63.9% of his passes for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions across 15 appearances. The 6-foot-3, 218-pound quarterback led the Texans to an AFC South title and a dominant 45-14 win over the Cleveland Browns in the NFL Wild Card Round. One week later, Houston's season ended in a 34-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL Divisional Round.

Stroud is one of three Buckeyes to earn a Pro Bowl nod this season. Former Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward (Cleveland Browns) and defensive end Nick Bosa (San Francisco 49ers) also received the accolade. Ward will participate in the Pro Bowl Games this weekend while Bosa, like Mahomes, will have an alternate as he prepares for the Super Bowl.

The Pro Bowl Games consist of a Skills Showdown at 7 p.m. Thursday and an in-stadium competition highlighted by 7-on-7 flag football at 3 p.m. Sunday at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. The event will be televised on ESPN, ABC, and Disney XD and streamed on ESPN+.
