A former Ohio State wide receiver made the NFL’s catch of the week on Monday Night Football for the second week in a row.

In Week 1, Garrett Wilson delivered an early candidate for catch of the year in the national spotlight when he tipped a pass to himself and caught it for a 3-yard touchdown in the New York Jets’ season-opening win over the Buffalo Bills.

In Week 2, his former Buckeye teammate Chris Olave delivered his own spectacular catch on Monday Night Football when he got one hand on a Derek Carr deep ball to tip it to himself, stretching his arm past the arm of Carolina Panthers cornerback C.J. Henderson to make the play, then haul it in while going to the ground for a 42-yard touchdown.

Olave’s catch led to a go-ahead touchdown for the New Orleans Saints, who took a 13-6 lead over the Carolina Panthers into the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game. He nearly scored the game-sealing touchdown in the fourth quarter on a catch-and-run up the left sideline, but was ruled to have stepped out of bounds at the 7-yard line. The Saints would ultimately score a touchdown two plays later to take a 20-9 lead with only 3:14 to play, and they went on to win 20-17.

Olave and Wilson already established themselves as two of the NFL’s top wide receivers in their rookie seasons last year when both topped 1,000 yards. Their stars, and the profile of Brian Hartline’s wide receiver room at Ohio State, are only rising with the spectacular plays they’ve already made in the national spotlight so far this season.
