TreVeyon Henderson has been named one of this year’s top 10 running backs in college football.

Henderson was named Wednesday as one of 10 semifinalists for this year’s Doak Walker Award, which honors college football’s best running back. He is the only true freshman to make the list.

In his first season at Ohio State, Henderson has become an instant star, rushing for 1,028 yards and 14 touchdowns on just 141 carries and adding 16 catches for 223 yards and three touchdowns. The five-star recruit is just the fourth true freshman in Ohio State history to rush for 1,000 yards, and he’s just one touchdown away from tying Maurice Clarett’s record for the most touchdowns scored by an Ohio State freshman.

Henderson is currently tied for second nationally in yards per carry (7.34), tied for fourth nationally in touchdowns scored and ranks 14th in total yards from scrimmage and 17th in total rushing yards.

Henderson is one of two Big Ten running backs on the list of semifinalists along with Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker, the national leader in rushing yards, who Ohio State will face this Saturday.
