Another year, another pretending to be threatened by a program that hasn't had a winning season in the Big Ten... ever.
We love to give Rutgers shit for how absolutely abysmal it's been since joining the Big Ten, but somehow Maryland avoids all mockery despite being marginally less bad. I mean, at the end of the day, Rutgers actually has more bowl wins and the same number of winning seasons since 2014.
Maryland is quite simply just not a very good football team and has been a drain on Big Ten football since joining the conference. Their stadium is quite literally quieter than a moderate snore, they haven't won a bowl game in over a decade, and the most press the team has received is when their coach killed a player and they didn't immediately fire him.
The most impressive thing they've done is beat Texas a couple of times and lose by only a little bit against Ohio State in 2018. Outside of that, Maryland is a lacrosse school that happens to have a football team.
But hey, at least this year they have the worse Tagovailoa brother!
As far as I'm concerned, this is the most threatening Terrapin supporter in existence.
Word of the Day: Smash.
TODAY'S MENU. I'd say we've got ourselves an above-average slate today, but we truly have no idea what this week is going to give us until the games kick-off. So far, this season has been a vintage kind of unpredictable and I love it.

SKULL SESSION STREAM. Got an itch to experience that gameday environment, but find yourself frustratingly far from campus? I've got some good news.
For the rest of the season, you'll be able to peep TBDBITL's pregame Skull Session online and free of charge.
Ohio State's famed Skull Session will now be live-streamed, the university shared Friday. The pregame tradition takes place at St. John Arena before every home football game. Now, it is heading to smartphones and living rooms across the country.
The university will live stream the Skull Session before each home game for the rest of the 2021 season. The stream starts this Saturday before the Buckeyes take on Maryland. The live stream can be found on the Ohio State News YouTube channel.
“We’re thrilled to be able to share with fans everywhere the enthusiasm and electrifying atmosphere fans bring to Skull Session,” said Director of National Broadcast Media Joe Camoriano. “One of the best fan experiences takes place just across the street from the ’Shoe only a couple of hours before each home game. And we are excited to stream it live.”
.Meanwhile, I've been offering y'all pregame Skull Sessions online for free for years and nobody's ever made a big deal about it.
PICKS! Let's run this back.
- Ohio State -21 against Maryland. I really think Ohio State matches up well in this game defensively. The Buckeyes really haven't played a team that likes to drop back and pass the way Maryland does, but I really think they're built to handle that much more than teams like Oregon and Tulsa, which killed Ohio State underneath. Oh, and Ohio State's offense exists, too.
- Oklahoma -3 against Texas. I want Oklahoma to lose this game as badly as you do, but it's just not going to happen. Oklahoma is just more talented across the board.
- Iowa -1.5 against Penn State. Iowa's defense is going to carry it to victory today. The offense might not do much, but as long as it can score a couple of times and eat some clock, it'll be enough.
- Nebraska +3.5 against Michigan. I've just got a sneaky feeling about this game. I think Nebraska can play Michigan very similarly to how Rutgers did – basically, load the box and know damn well they won't beat you through the air. And in a home night game, I can easily see Nebraska pulling the upset.
- Wisconsin -11 against Illinois. Wisconsin kinda got the shaft on its early-season schedule, drawing three games against teams currently ranked in the top-15. As a result, the Badgers are 1-3, and are looking to right the ship against a bad Illinois team. I think poor Illinois is going to make an excellent punching bag today.
SONG OF THE DAY. "Terrapin Station" by Grateful Dead.
NOT STICKING TO SPORTS. Cops illegally confiscate a guy's phone and then accidentally record themselves debating the best way to frame him... Parents want a principal removed for listening to Iron Maiden... A man without a memory lived among strangers at a hospital for eight years... How two men were rescued after 29 days lost at sea... What happens when you take 550 doses of LSD...
