Former Ohio State safety Tyvis Powell is going back to where his NFL career started.

Powell announced Tuesday that he will rejoin the Seattle Seahawks, the team that first signed him as a free agent following the 2016 NFL draft.

Powell spent the entire 2016 regular season with the Seahawks last season before he was released just before the playoffs. He later landed in his hometown of Cleveland, but was released after the Browns drafted former Michigan safety Jabrill Peppers.

Powell was claimed by the Colts in June, but did not make the final cut before the regular season started.

The former Buckeye played in eight games last season with the Seahawks, primarily on special teams.
