If America's weather industrial complex is to be trusted, Ohio State and Michigan State will meet in awful weather for the second year in a row.

While it likely won't be as wet as last year, when the Spartans upset the Buckeyes, 17-14, in a heavy drizzle that lasted the duration of the game, it will likely be colder in this year's clash, set to take place at noon in East Lansing, Mich.

Oh, and it might rain today, too. Or even snow. And it will be windier.

Weather.com is calling for a high of 38º at kickoff and with “rain and snow.” How can it snow when the temperature is above freezing, you're surely asking. Well, apparently, nature is ruthless and the drier the air is, the better the odds of snowflakes remaining snowflakes as they make their way to the ground.

Okay.

About that snow – or rain – or whatever form it takes when it hits the turf of Spartan Stadium today: there's a 57% chance of precipitation at kickoff, falling to a 41% chance throughout the course of the game.

Meanwhile, the wind, which may be the biggest factor this afternoon. Expect gusts as high as 22 mph. Is that windy? Well, last year the wind topped off at just 14 mph and everyone in the Shoe was miserable.

So, if you're headed to the game, we hope you planned accordingly. It will be wet, windy and feel 28º – a whole 10 degrees cooler than the real temperature.

Kickoff forecasts:

  • The Weather Channel: 38 (feels like 28º) with a 57% chance of showers; W wind at 22 mph
  • AccuWeather: 39º (feels like 26º) with a 43% chance of showers; WNW wind at 20 mph
  • Weather Underground: 38 with a 53% chance of showers; W wind at 22 mph
