Last week, Georgia Tech wide receiver Corey Dennis took the first step towards becoming part of Urban Meyer's family when he proposed to the coach's daughter Nicki (she said yes).
Now, he's poised to take another as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting he will join Meyer's Ohio State staff as a graduate assistant.
Speaking Saturday after the Jackets’ Orange Bowl practice, Dennis said that Urban Meyer is “a great guy. He’s always been so good to me.” Dennis addresses him as “Coach.”
Said Dennis, “It’s hard not to see him as Coach Meyer, but he’s just Nicky’s dad to me.”
He’ll soon be both.
“He’s got the double whammy,” coach Paul Johnson said. “He’s engaged to the daughter and a GA.”
Dennis is expected to tie the Yellow Jackets school record for games played when he sees action in his 54th game Wednesday in Georgia Tech's Orange Bowl tilt with Mississippi State. He hails from Troy, Ala. and is the son of Steve Dennis, a defensive captain for the Georgia Bulldogs in 1978.
