Few things get my juices flowing more than seeing players from my favorite team — The Ohio State Battlin' Buckeyes, for the record — named to preseason award watch list fields that include eighty other players.
"Wow, this is good stuff here," I said when I read of Braxton Miller being named to the 2014 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award® Watch List.
Sure, there are 38 other names on the list, but to me, it means a lot that these award people are willing to watch one of the most dynamic athletes in college football and consider him for their quarterback award.
So, imagine how jacked up I was after reading this tweet:
Entire Ohio State Football Roster Named To TFL Pre-Season Watch List -- "We Will Watch All Of These Players"
— The Fake Lantern (@TheFakeLantern) July 16, 2014
Bold move by The Fake Lantern — that's certainly a lot of players to watch through the course of a season — but I wouldn't expect anything less from the true voice of Ohio State students.
Some people might think it's ridiculous to name an entire roster to a preseason watch list, but there is precedent in terms of volume.
For example, Michael Bennett and Joey Bosa — two players I did not previously know were good — were named to the 2014 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List. The list included 123 athletes from 76 universities.
