A lot of news happening in the recruiting sphere the past 24 hours, so we're publishing the rare Tuesday Hurry-Up.
The top-ranked running back in the 2027 class is headed to Ohio State for its season opener.
Five-star Pennsylvania running back Kemon Spell announced he’ll be at Ohio Stadium for the Buckeyes’ season opener against Texas on Saturday and also visit Tennessee, USC, Alabama, Notre Dame and Michigan this season.
Spell, a current Penn State commit, told On3’s Hayes Fawcett those six schools (including Ohio State) have the best chance of flipping him off his current commitment to the Nittany Lions.
Maybe it’s just me, but if you’re admitting that six schools reportedly have a chance of flipping you, it’s fair to wonder just how strong the original commitment is in the first place.
Nonetheless, OSU will have the opportunity to impress the country’s No. 9 prospect and No. 1 running back per 247Sports’ composite rankings this week. Though he’s the No. 1 running back per recruiting rankings, he may not be the No. 1 running back on OSU’s board for that cycle, considering the staff loves five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, who will also be in attendance on Saturday.
Still, always good to develop a strong relationship with both players and do your due diligence.
Joseph Buchanan picks up an Ohio State offer
A talented 2027 defensive lineman has earned an OSU offer. Defensive line coach Larry Johnson offered four-star Maryland prospect Joseph Buchanan on Monday, putting another top-225 national target on the Buckeyes’ recruiting board.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Buchanan is considered the No. 221 prospect and the No. 23 defensive lineman in the 2027 cycle.
He’s earned 22 Division I offers, including Duke, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Rutgers, Tennessee, USC, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Kentucky, Michigan State, Penn State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Syracuse and West Virginia.
Last season, Buchanan recorded 34 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack and two fumble recoveries.
Brady Edmunds rearranges his visit
There will be no shortage of recruits on campus this week, with the total expected to be somewhere in the triple digits. But Ohio State’s quarterback commit for the 2027 class will no longer be one of them.
Due to a scheduling change, Brady Edmunds is moving his visit from this week to next week’s contest against Grambling State. The atmosphere obviously won’t be as electric for that contest, but at least he’s guaranteed to see a win.
After a schedule change to my game this week, I will not be at the Texas vs OSU game this weekend. Instead I will be at the @OhioStateFB game next weekend against Grambling. I will also be at @ShowTimee_23s game next Friday as well. #GOBUCKS @Birm @Bill_Kurelic @Bucknuts247

Edmunds planned to attend fellow 2027 commit Jamier Brown’s game on Friday, and he’ll still hold to that plan next week, too.
Although Ohio State has considered taking two quarterbacks in his class, Edmunds is all in on Ohio State.
“For me, it's just another opportunity to compete,” Edmunds said in June about potentially having another quarterback in his class. “Obviously now coming in, if it was one quarterback, I'd be working with Tavien (and Luke Fahey). Now, you've got a dude right on your tail working you even more. So, I mean, it's just an opportunity to get better.”
He’s already helping peer recruit other prospects for his recruiting class, too.
“Whenever someone gets offered or something like that, I kind of connect,” Edmunds said in June. “Or sometimes coach will text me or call me and I'll get someone to go after.”
