Calling all self-proclaimed offensive gurus on EA Sports College Football or Madden, your opportunity is here.
Akron announced that one season-ticket holder will have the opportunity to design the opening drive of the game for its home opener against Robert Morris at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 at InfoCision Stadium.

The promotion is labeled as "Offensive Coordinator of the Game" and it'll be the first time that an event of this nature is being rolled out in the college football world.
Bold move.
"I'm looking forward to collaborating with the season ticket holder who wins this contest," head coach Joe Moorhead said in a press release. "This will give our fans a behind-the-scenes experience that has never been done before anywhere, so I'm excited to show them how to put together the opening script and see what they can do."
All current Akron season-ticket holders will automatically be entered into a random drawing, with each season ticket owned counting as an entry. If a season-ticket holder refers somebody else into purchasing the season-long package, an additional entry will be granted for every person successfully referred.
The winner will be selected on Wednesday, Aug. 19, and will meet with Moorhead ahead of the contest to design the game script for the opening drive against the Colonials.
This is a bold move regardless of team, but especially one for Akron. The Zips have an overall record of just 13-35 since Moorhead took over in 2022. However, 2025 was his best showing as the leader of the program, as Akron finished the campaign with a 5-7 tally.
Robert Morris, on the other hand, ended last year with a worse label than the Zips, ending the season with a 3-9 record at the FCS level.
But by doing something of this nature, it's about more than the football.
"We're always looking for new ways to bring our fans closer to the program," athletic director Andrew T. Goodrich said in Akron’s press release. "This is about giving one of our most loyal supporters a seat at the table, right alongside our coaching staff, on the biggest night of the season."
