Ohio State missed out on one of its top remaining offensive line targets on Thursday.

But not to the competitor most publicly connected to him.

Four-star offensive lineman Drew Evers committed to 2024 College Football Playoff participant SMU on Thursday, taking an interior offensive line priority off the board for the Buckeyes.

Evers was long thought to be an Ohio State vs. Texas A&M battle throughout the recruiting industry, but SMU moved the needle the most for Evers after he took an official visit with the Mustangs on May 2.

Per 247Sports' composite rankings, Evers is considered the No. 208 prospect and No. 14 interior offensive lineman in the 2026 class. He took his Ohio State official visit on June 6.

With Evers headed elsewhere, Ohio State will still attempt to add to its offensive line class that reached four commits Wednesday evening with the addition of offensive tackle Aaron Thomas. The Buckeyes may ramp up their pursuit of Breck KolojayDa'Ron Parks and J.B. Shabazz, all of whom took an official visit with Ohio State this summer. Of that trio, Kolojay and Parks are the most likely players to play on the interior offensive line in college.
