One of Ohio State’s priority running back targets in the 2026 class has set a commitment date.

Five-star Florida running back Derrek Cooper will commit on July 12 and choose from Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Florida State and Texas.

Cooper was at Ohio State last weekend for his final official visit of the summer. Now, the five-star talent will shift into decision mode. Miami and Georgia are seen as the biggest threats to Ohio State to land Cooper, the former high school teammate of Jeremiah Smith.

Luke Fahey picks up Ohio State offer following OV

Ohio State has likely identified its No. 1 target to be its quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class. The Buckeyes offered four-star quarterback Luke Fahey on his official visit this weekend, and now things seem to be trending in the right direction for the scarlet and gray there as they await a decision from Fahey as he contemplates choosing a school from a group of Ohio State, Indiana and Stanford.

It’s very uncommon for a prospect to take an official visit to Ohio State if they haven’t already been offered by the Buckeyes, but Ryan Day and Billy Fessler made an exception for Fahey this weekend. Day and Fessler were evaluating Fahey equally as much as he was evaluating Ohio State, and the weekend concluded with both parties feeling good about the other.

Fahey, the former high school teammate of Ohio State wideout Phillip Bell, is considered the No. 355 prospect and the No. 23 quarterback in the 2026 class per 247Sports’ composite rankings. In his junior season, Fahey completed 76 percent of his passes for 1,638 yards with 17 touchdowns and no interceptions while running 28 times for 183 yards and three touchdowns. As a sophomore, he recorded 2,184 yards passing and 26 touchdowns. Fahey is a dual-sport athlete and also plays basketball and lacrosse.

In a potential indicator that Fahey is leaning toward Ohio State, Indiana took a commitment from three-star quarterback Cash Herrera on Monday.

Tyler Bowen offers 11 offensive linemen

Offensive line coach Tyler Bowen had been very conservative about handing out offers to prospective offensive linemen during the recruiting camp circuit this summer. As it turns out, he was waiting until late June to complete his evaluations of each player, as he offered 11 new prospects on Monday, most of whom worked out with Bowen and the Buckeyes this summer.

Eleven new offers are a lot to cover, but we’re breaking down each player who received an offer on Monday.

  • Four-star 2027 Wisconsin offensive tackle Cole Reiter: Boasting a sturdy frame of 6-foot-7, 295 pounds, Reiter is ranked the No. 274 prospect and the No. 25 offensive tackle in 2027 per 247Sports’ composite rankings. Most of his offers have been from Midwest schools, including Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
  • Four-star 2027 Florida offensive lineman Reed Ramsier: Ramsier is likely best suited to play inside at the collegiate level, as the 6-foot-5, 305-pound lineman is rated the No. 299 player and No. 12 interior offensive line prospect in 2026. Twenty-three schools have offered him, including Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Oklahoma, Texas and UCLA.
  • Four-star 2027 California offensive lineman Lucas Rhoa: The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Rhoa is ranked the No. 325 prospect and the No. 30 offensive tackle. He’s earned more than 20 Division I offers, which include Alabama, Penn State, Florida State, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and USC.
  • Three-star 2027 Georgia offensive lineman Jacob Burns: A multi-sport athlete, Burns is 6-foot-6 and 300 pounds, and is considered the No. 363 prospect and No. 33 offensive tackle in the 2027 class. Duke, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech and Syracuse are all schools that have offered him.
  • Three-star 2027 Texas offensive lineman Tristan Dare: Dare is ranked the No. 426 prospect and the No. 24 interior offensive lineman in 2027. At 6-foot-4, 260 pounds, he holds 26 Division I offers, including Baylor, Cal, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mizzou, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Purdue, Stanford, Texas Tech, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
  • Virginia 2027 offensive tackle Brody McNeel: The 6-foot-5, 265-pound McNeel doesn’t hold a 247Sports composite ranking yet, but holds 11 Division I offers, including Penn State, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, NC State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
  • Pennsylvania 2027 offensive lineman James Halter: The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Halter doesn’t hold a composite ranking and has six Division I offers in total. The other schools that have offered include Boston College, Duke, Michigan State, NC State and Pittsburgh.
  • Ohio 2027 offensive lineman Kellen Wymer: Bowen offered the in-state Wymer Monday, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound lineman from Liberty Center. He doesn’t hold a composite ranking yet, but has racked up nine Division I offers, including Indiana, Michigan State and Northwestern.
  • Illinois 2027 offensive lineman Luke Injaychock: Injaychock profiles as a tackle at the next level, as the 6-foot-6, 280-pound prospect has offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Louisville, Minnesota and Northwestern, among others.
  • Ohio 2027 offensive lineman Mason Wilt: Wilt is the second player from the Buckeye State to earn an offer Monday, as the 6-foot-5, 295-pound St. Clairsville product now has nine Division I offers. Other schools that have offered include Liberty, NC State, Ohio, Toledo, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
  • Virginia 2028 offensive lineman Major Green: The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Green is the lone 2028 prospect to earn an offer from Bowen Monday. He has offers from 13 schools, including Alabama, Colorado, Maryland, Miami, Penn State, South Carolina, Syracuse and Virginia Tech.

Danny Odem commits to Nebraska

Ohio State's top remaining target at cornerback is headed in a different direction. Four-star Florida prospect Danny Odem committed to Big Ten rival Nebraska on Monday, keeping his recruitment close to the vest until his final decision.

Tim Walton offered Odem in May and quickly built a strong relationship with Odem, and he took an official visit to OSU on June 13. His final visit was with the Cornhuskers, who landed his commitment a day later.

With Odem off the board, Walton will likely re-evaluate several senior prospects once they start their senior seasons to find a potential third cornerback for the 2026 class. Although Odem committed to the Cornhuskers Monday, it doesn't necessarily mean the recruitment is over, as the Buckeyes could continue to pursue him until National Signing Day.
