Ohio State’s first two recruiting camps had plenty of premier prospects work out in front of the Buckeyes’ coaching staff. The third camp of the month on Tuesday was admittedly a little more low-key by comparison, but there were still several intriguing storylines from the day.
While four players picked up an offer at the first camp and seven walked away with an offer in hand on Monday, three prospects who camped on Tuesday had announced an offer as of the early evening.
That player, four-star 2027 cornerback Taelyn Mayo, earned every bit of his opportunity. Mayo dominated individual drills and one-on-one competition throughout the day, leading to strong praise from Tim Walton and Matt Guerrieri. Frankly, he may have had the best individual day of any prospect at the camp.
I had a amazing camp and visit at @OhioStateFB Really loved talking to @ryandaytime and @OGWalt_ BIA

Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Mayo is considered the No. 123 overall prospect and No. 14 cornerback in the 2027 cycle. The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Texas cornerback has 27 Division I offers.
The second prospect offered was defensive tackle Waylon Wooten, a three-star prospect from Georgia. Wooten is considered the No. 378 player and the No. 40 defensive lineman in the 2027 class.

The final prospect offered was five-star Georgia safety Ta'Shawn Poole, who had a strong showing at camp. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Poole is considered the No. 25 prospect in the 2027 class and the No. 1-rated safety.

Rankings haven’t been compiled for 2028 prospects yet on any of the major recruiting services, but when they’re first revealed, it would be a shock if Florida wide receiver Brysen Wright doesn’t boast a high ranking. Wright had already been offered by Brian Hartline ahead of Tuesday’s camp, but his 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame was entirely noticeable throughout the day. The Florida standout has already been offered by most big-name schools already, and it’s clear Hartline is prioritizing him early for his cycle.
Throughout the week, there have been plenty of intriguing 2027 quarterbacks throwing in front of Ryan Day and Billy Fessler. Tuesday was no different, with Illinois standout Israel Abrams joining Ohio State commit Brady Edmunds as top-100 prospects who threw at Tuesday’s camp. The 6-foot-4, 180-pound gunslinger has a smooth delivery and could be worth monitoring this fall if the Buckeyes decide they’d like a two-quarterback class for that cycle, which is garnering consideration.
“I think I did pretty well,” Abrams told Eleven Warriors. “I liked all the competition that was out there today in terms of quarterbacks, not really competing against them but getting to work with quarterbacks like Brady Edmunds. He was cool and very welcoming. It was a good experience and overall I had a really good time. Coach Day coached me hard today.”
Other notes
- It’s not technically camp-specific, but five-star 2026 offensive lineman Darius Gray started his midweek official visit to Ohio State today and watched the majority of the offensive line drills throughout the day.
- Edmunds camped for the third and final time in Columbus on Tuesday. Edmunds was a true ambassador of what you want in an Ohio State commit throughout the week, doing his best to help peer recruit other Ohio State targets. He also stopped by Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus to donate a bunch of toys and books for kids.

My family and I had a great day at the Nationwide Childrens Hospital in Columbus. I spent some time with the awesome staff and donated a bunch of toys and books for the kids. Im looking forward to continuing my relationship with @nationwidekids over the coming years! #GoBucks pic.twitter.com/axm4JH07wF

- Though he didn’t pick up an OSU offer on Tuesday, 2027 offensive lineman Luke Injaychock looked promising. Though he doesn’t hold a composite ranking as of yet, he has several Power Four offers and could be an option down the line.
- 2028 Florida running back Elijah Hall is definitely going to be a name to monitor going forward, as he impressed Carlos Locklyn on Tuesday and already has picked up a few big offers.
- The most interesting defensive lineman on campus Tuesday was probably four-star 2027 defensive tackle Nate Kamba, who won the majority of his one-on-one reps. Kamba had already earned an offer from Larry Johnson ahead of the camp, so it’s promising that the top-175 prospect still wanted to get work in with the Buckeyes regardless.
- Ohio State will host its first of three seven-on-seven camps on Wednesday. It’ll feature two five-star wide receivers in the 2027 class with Jamier Brown and Dakota Guerrant both expected to be in Columbus.
